AMD or Intel? i.e. do you already have a particular mobo and are just upgrading the CPU or are you looking to get a new mobo/CPU?

2 be honest mate the PC I have at the minute is like 5 years old !! So I plan on building a brand new PC for my self for the first time.

I all ways thought AMD were better from reading around the net but to be honest I personally dont care which I use as long as there is room to overclock it.

If you could recomend me a motherboard as well as CPU that would be great !! My new PC will be used for downloading and surfing the net and playing games like rome total war which do need a lot of CPU power with all the 1000`s of men on the battlefield etc.

thanks for any help ! I am basically buying blind and would aprecaite some help in choosing the right parts ;)

If you're building from scratch then definitely go for Intel Core 2 Duo. They are better than current AMD and from what I've seen they overclock very well.

I agree with Day03, at present Intel chip is looking better for O/C
