Looking to replace my LG flatron 1710B with a larger monitor, and this one caught my eye as good value for money:

Formac Gallery Xtreme 2010 20.1" TFT 12ms 700:1 (1600x1200) (DVI) Monitor

I mainly use the computer for watching DVD's and playing WoW/CS:S with a bit of PS/Painter work (so i'd probably keep my 17" tft to the side for dual monitor goodness while I have photoshop up)

Heres the technical spec :

The Gallery Xtreme™ TFT display range, is a triumph in display technology production.

These truly digital High performance TFT displays, give the clearest and sharpest image with outstanding colour definition thanks to the 24-bit MVA Active Matrix technology used in each Xtreme™ display, its high performance TFT panel gives among other fantastic specifications, an rivaled contrast ratio of 700:1

Not only does this screen show fantastic images, the styled trademark case of the Gallery range, this time in clear and black steals another large chunk of wow factor.

the philips widescreen would be better for the money, as you say you watch films (widescreen) and the vertical size will be close to the 17inch screen for a dual setup

it's an "old generation" 25ms P-MVA panel from Fujitsu and id' be a little wary of the 12ms G2G quoted response time because of this. I haven't seen a lot about this model tbh, should be ok for general use, but may not be a very responsive panel fro gaming. WoW wouldn't be an issue, but any FPS like CS:S might be a bit of an issues, even compared with the ageing LG1710B you have at the moment.
