hi,

im tring to capture audio with the nvidia sound storm intergrated sound card on my Abit NF7.

ive managed this many a time on other boards/soundcards but for some reason i cant get it to record whats coming out of the speakers.

this is mainly for sending voice clips over msn etc. bit of cool edit pro.

any ideas ? :S

Ryan.

remembering from my old SN45G shuttle with soundstorm. the rear blue and pink stereo jacks (usually line in and mic in) are not line in and mic in. the rear ports are for 6 channel audio only. so to record anything from the line in, you'd have to connect it up to the front panel audio jacks assuming you have them (you should do i think)

maybe i didnt explain meself properly,

i am basicly tring to record whats coming out of the speakers, ive managed this easily with with other sound cards, is it me or is it just not posible with this soundcard?

btw im using a 5.1 setup.

thanks.

Ryan

are your speakers connected to your computer? and is the audio source comming from your computer or something else?

yeah, so depending on if you have your speakers connected via stereo jack or sp-dif (optical or coax) you need to connect either an output on your speakers (if theres one) or an audio output on your computer directly to the line in or mic in or even sp-dif in if you have it to record like i said in my first post.

there are many free programs out there that record sound from audio inputs on your computer

how are your speakers connected to your computer?

Speaking to a friend of mine with Soundstorm he says the "Stereo Mix" option should allow you to record what comes out the speakers.

As far as I know you can only record it in stereo though.

my speakers are 5.1 setup connected to the three (green, orange, black) outputs. but i dont think this is relavent,

the main reason i am asking this is because i am tring to use the 'voice clip' feature over MSN messenger.for example my bud can have a certain song playing on WMP, or be playing his guitar or talking down the mic, sometimes all at the same time. press the voice clip feature and then it will play on my computer, i am tring to do the same. when doing the setup i can only select (Nforce soundstorm audio) for speakers and microphone,

with previous soundcards ive been able to select mic/line out for the microphone option.

i see what your saying cokecan but it seems like a bit of bodge considering ive had no problems in the past, but if its the only way then ill have to do it.

thanks for all the replys :)

ok, so to get this straight lol, you have 5.1 speakers connected via the 6 channel audio etc. but you also have a mic?? and you want to be able to just press the voice clip feature (or alternative) to listen to stuff from your mic or send it via msn for example??

ID have thaught it a simple case of setting the audio capture software to "what you hear" as the recording device. It works like this using WavStudio with my audigy anyhow. Im sure there loads of free audio recorders out there also.

the only option i have is.....

The option will be in the actual nVidia panel for the sound options.

Looks like you can only use the microphone for MSN though.
