Well I like the xbox music app in metro.

Tom's hardware app is nice.

Of course, the best app is desktop, but in just one day of using 8 I am really liking it.

Post away what apps you would recommend trying out :)

Xbox music and Xbox video have to be the stand out apps.

Evernote is very good, but then it is on iOS.
Netflix is marginally better than iOS version.

One thing, how do you get the controls back in xbox music app once they disappear?

Only way I found is to alter volume or hit play/pause, any way with the mouse?

Right click?

Yeah, XBox music is a good. There is a mind mapping piece of software in the store somewhere which I quite like but lots of room for improvement. Some of the games are quite impressive.

I spend most of my time in desktop land though. The general Microsoft account integration is great imo.

In desktop mode, the things I already love in 7 :p.

In metro mode... well, it's different, but I feel I'm not taking full advantage of it since I don't have touchscreen.

The Microsoft account is nice, but I converted it to a local account since I won't be near an internet connection most of the time (installed it on a laptop).

Right click, duh, thanks guys, sounds obvious I know, but it was puzzling me lol.

Custom Tile maker is decent for, well, custom tiles.

Oh, OneNote is worth checking out if you're an Office user. I would say it's worth a look just to see the radial UIs alone personally. It could be a hint towards what a future Metro-style Office could be like.

What's so great about Xbox Music?

It doesn't detect album art in files and seems insistent on matching things to the cloud. Which it's getting wrong. Metallica - I Disappear has had the artist changed to (in the app - thankfully it doesn't alter files) Graystar

In my experience its execution is horrid! At least for local files.
