Looking for an upgrade from my current system in signature.

The other key points are plenty of USB ports, I currrently use 7 usb ports on back of my current motherboard, and I use 1x m.2 and 3x sata ports as well.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Eight Core 5.00GHz (Socket AM5) Processor - Retail £479.99

MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WIFI (Socket AM5) DDR5 ATX Motherboard around £230.00

Corsair Vengeance RGB EXPO 32GB (2X16GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C36 6000MHz Dual Channel £89.99

Total £799.98

Looks good, could you not hold out for a 9800X3D for the extra £20 or do you need the system now\before Christmas?

Is there really much performance increase for the difference in the price though?
I not desperate, but I had my current system for last 4 years 2nd hand as well, I could wait bit longer.

£230 region for the motherboard should move into 870 territory.

The 7800x3d was down at just over £300 I can't believe it's upto £500!!!

My Gripe with buying the 7800X3D chip is that it was £315 in June and since then its just gone up in price.

Yeah, the CPU was as low as £315 in June and since then its just gone up and up in price.

now, there is no point in buying the 7800X3D when the 9800X3D is just £20 more on OCUK but it does depend on how soon you need the upgrade\new PC as the 9800X3D is on pre order and unsure when it will arrive

There are other advantages with going with the 9800x3D over the 7800x3D, including being able to drive your memory at higher speeds (and higher capacities). The 7000 series of chips on the other hand can do one or the other, but not both (although unconfirmed reports that the newer boards could help in that regard in pushing more memory at faster speeds, but no one ever expanded on this) - and even then requires an inordinate amount of tinkering to get more out of it memory wise to reach perfomance that would basically be default on the 9000 chips.

You can import a 7500F for around £100, to be frank I'd not be surprised if you didn't make around 80-90% of that back if you sold it within the next 3 months. Said CPU isn't much slower than the 7600 which is still a solid CPU and massive uplift from what the OP is currently sporting.

The 7800X3D was down to £280 at one point, the current pricing is absolutely shocking and I have no doubt that either the 9800X3D will end up less mid-late next year, or the leftover 7800X3D stock will go for a song.

Retailers are pulling a FOMO on the enthusiast market right now and it's silly to buy into it. Spending better part of half a grand on a 7800X3D is absolute lunacy.

The 7800X3D should be priced at £250-300 imo, its at this point an old chip and if you are buying into AM5 for gaming then just wait til you can get your hands on a 9800X3D. £500 is too much for an 8 core, i'd be jonesing for a 12 or 16 core at that kind of money.
