crap single malt < good blend
Very true. All these whisky/whiskey snobs are forgetting what a good Whisky/Whiskey is about. It's not about getting the most obscure brand you can find, it's not about buying the oldest malt you can find and it's not about buying the most expensive malt you can find. The people who set out to do that are more interested in telling their mates down at the pub to impress them rather than enjoy the occasion of a good drink.
Drinking whisky/whiskey is about enjoying the flavours and the experience. I'm a big fan of whisky/whiskey myself, in particular Islay malts and Irish malts/blends. Some of the malts I own or have tasted can't compare to a good blend, especially some of my particular favourites like Bushmills or even Powers. I have tasted malts which stretch into 4 figure sums and whilst I tried my best to savour what I was given, some of them just hadn't a touch on a £15 bottle of Powers. It's all about personal tastes and preferences.
Whisky/Whiskey snobbery is for people who drink it for image, not real whisky/whiskey drinkers.
Since I've posted I might as well recommend a nice blend as someone requested. It really depends on the flavours you want to experience. For a strong and peaty blend, go for
Black Bottle, a blend of Islay malts. For a smoother taste which is better for relaxing, try
Jamesons Irish whiskey.
As it's coming into winter and a smooth yet spiced flavour is enjoyable, I recommend
Powers Gold Label Irish Whiskey (Ignore the picture, its not what a bottle of standard belnd looks like). Powers is my personal favourite out of all my drinks, especially at this time of year. It's probably one of the cheapest too which does nothing at all for my whiskey penis
