Whats a decent surge protector

I have one as well, salvaged from work. Difficult to compare, one of the feature of surge protectors is being invisible, but so far so good.

I like the rotating sockets. When you have 8 or so devices all with random orientations it's quite useful.

the best way to tell how good a surge protector is to compare the payout money

i.e. i have the belkin linked above and it was rated for £175,000 (the money they would pay up to if the surge was more powerful than it could handle

i then bought two from MasterPlug Performance series that were rated to £500,000 - i use these more often - they must have a better surge tolerance :)

haha... that's one way of looking at it. I'm sure I've Belkin ones with £1,000,000 before. Their networking gear is absolute guff... I personally use two of their surge protectors so hopefully I'll never need to find out if their any good.

I wonder if anyone has actually ever been paid out from one of these. Guaranteed they would fine a loophole and blame everything else on it.

true, but i still think it is a valid way of comparing the quality

yeah, you can get business ones that go into stupid money - but they are expensive - my Masterplug ones were £18 each about 4 years ago :p
