As something has come up and I think I should just buy one...

Is there a particular model I should keep my eyes open for? Is there a better way to cool them down? I assume they do run quite warm??

Any thoughts, comments, please put here :)

All pretty much identical in design.

The BFG ones have reportedly the best after sales service, however the the EVGA one allows for step-up if you see something better within 90 days.

I'd choose out of those two personally. :)

I agree with Tute. The BFG and EVGA models are by far the best in terms of warranty and customer service, and personally I'd be inclined to buy the EVGA even though I own a BFG. The step-up programme is awesome.

I take it there's no difference in the performance of them? Overclocking ablity etc??

I'm interested in buying one as my X1900 XT does a fantastic job, at times, I think I need more...

The EVGA ACS3 Have a better cooler...

Looks a real nice cooler there :)

Would it matter to much what model to buy, if I was considering putting a water setup on it and the north bridge of my board??

I'm trying to get a quiet PC... I hate having this thing thats floating around my knees!! ;)

Many thanks, I see you have a Dell 24" TFT as well... I'm hoping to get two myself... I'd like one for each PC... (server and gaming rig).. I miss the big screen resolutions :(

I was thinking of the BFG Extreme water cooled model, does anyone have this? What do they think of it??
I have 2 of the first one`s that come out and they clock well ive had the core @700 memory @2200 to test but run them day to day @650/2000.

Well i have the vanilla evga 8800gtx which comes pre-clocked at 626/2000 which is the same as the overclocked version they sell yet they are both overclocked the same ;) . So with the excellent warranty and the 90 step up program imo there is no other choice

The cards are, but the warranty and service are not. ;)

Most cards have a few years warranty anyway, and if something's going to die, it's usually already dead when you get it, or dies within the first week.

I don't know why people are so bothered about lifetime warranty, you're probably not going to use it for more than a few years anyway.

They may infact mostly be DOA or soon after but ill think you'll find that the cheaper ones only offer 1 or 2 years and if it goes in that time you may find that there customer service maybe non-existent (gainward for example).Myself on the other hand always pass my
components onto my children and therefore look to forums to see what experience they have had with certain manufacturers after sales service.

Evga in my opinion just pip bfg and that is just simply due to the 90 day trade up program they offer. Also the fact that i am not a geek that needs a xxl bfg t-shirt also helped sway me to evga.

The 90 day step up program is simple and all is explained on their website. First you register your product and in your account page is the option to upgrade. There is no depreciation of your product, you just simply pay the difference as if youve just purchased the card.

Pair the 8800gtx upto the Dell 2407wfp and you will love it. In my opinion a 24 "+ monitor is the only way to do your card justice.

Things like lifetime warranty and a step-up service are massive bonuses for me. I never keep a card more than 4-6 months these days, but you just never know when you might decide to quit the rat race. ;)

The step up program is not really worth considering or paying extra for. EVGA will expect you pay the difference between what you pay now and an over inflated price on the item you want. Go for a manufacturer with excellent RMA reputation and the best price you can get.
