Whats a good AVR to get?

Ive asked in a few threads about different tvs for a setup I intend to start near the end of the year (sooner if the lottery gods smile upon me), but now im moving on to amps. My intent is for whatever tv I get to have at least one full on up to date ( so I presume 2.1) hdmi port, amp connects to that and all my sources go into the amp and pass through.

At the moment im talking a BT youview box, hopefully soon to be updated as the newer ones come out, a sony 4k player, a ps4 although that wont be used much and potentially a Nintendo switch. IF my eventual tv doesn’t have all the streaming apps then I imagine I’ll add some device that covers what the TV doesn’t.

Apart from connectivity, must be capable of 5.1.2 sound (size of room is best suited to a pair of overheads, not 2 pairs unfortunately). The 5.1 bit is a kef5001 speaker set, overheads likely to be kef of some sort as well.

Is there an amp that suits all of this out of the box? Something with rock solid connectivity, everything can plug in without waiting for any soft/firm/hard ware updates please? Looking around the 1k mark but less if possible.

I've got a Denon 2700X and been pleased with it. There will be an updated models with the fixed HDMI issue coming out. If you could hold off for a few months they might be worth looking into.

I really like the typical Denon sound too. Muscular but musical and not too brittle. (Auditioned a ton of rivals and have chosen Denon twice now.) Best thing you can do is take your fave discs down to a store and listen to some options.

Another vote for Denon here, i've had various models over the years and right now i'm using an X4500H with my old 3806 as a second amp to drive my front speakers... i think one would do though!

Actually, it's my 4306 which is a second one, i had a 3803 i think it was before that

Many thanks all! sounds like itll be a Denon ill be trying. Imhaving to save quite hard hence itll be a few months before i do anything (twice i got close to pulling the trigger then got made redundant) - now in a more settled new job but i want the cash behind me and not rely on Mr Visa!

I'd agree with the others on Denon as a good place to start. The one below has 8k so 2.1.
Worth noting that they have very predictable life cycles, with new models at the same time and so very predictable price drops. I'd be careful to go with the latest model as there will be similar model numbers at enticing prices, but the older models may miss features if looking for the latest stuff. At least that's what I found with marantz which is the sister company. Better room correction typically used to be the difference when I was last looking a few years ago, but likely hdmi is the main difference now that 2.1 becoming more common (which ps5 uses and would want, not for 8k, but other features like higher refresh rates, earc etc).

Benefits of 2.1...

For what it's worth, I would listen to a few AVRs if you can.

I've had a number of units over the years and Onkyo have been my long termers. I haven't kept a Denon unit for more than a week.

I can't believe how bad my D&M sounded in comparison.
Maybe one day I'll say the same about the Arcam when I am sitting with a Trinnov lol.
A very nice guy on avforums got one after his last arcam. Jealous as I am, never going to happen. My gadget addiction has moved on as happy enough. Addictive upgrade transferred temporarily - first to gpu and now coffee machines before next pc upgrade... In parallel my umik V2 arrived the other day - ordered 8 months after ordering!
