Hi guys and gals. Could someone assist me?

What's a good overclock for an e6300?

Using a Freezer 7 Pro and DS4?

And what would you say are average temps?

Cheers

Ok this is what I've got so far.

CPU-z says I'm running at 3010MHz, on 1.344v. I think I have set the memory on a divider(2.0?). But it reports the memory is running at 1:1, but at 5,7,7,20 timings?

Is this right?

Anything over 3Ghz is good for the e6300. Go to 1.4v and you should get more.

1:1 in CPU-Z is the same as 2.0 in your BIOS. But those are pretty relaxed timings. Which RAM do you have?

And the temp should be around 30c at idle 1.34v.

Thanks for the reply. I have the Geil pc5300. Not sure about temps, Easytune5 which came with my motherboard is saying that I am idling at about 40c

Actually 5,7,7,20 isn't too bad for the pc5300. You've overclocked it a fair bit. You might be able to tighten them a bit.

And the 40c is probably the core temp and that's fine if it is.

Ok. I think it'll probably go higher(the chip) but don't know if I would want to run it any faster long term? The memory timings are set to auto at the moment. Does it make much difference having tigher timings?

Edit:

Ok, have amended the timings to 5,5,5,15. Any point going any tighter? And should I push the chip on anymore? Is it safe to continue running at 3GHz?

Ok, now I'm confused. Just turned on PC this morning and temps have dropped to idling at 27c!!?? My house isn't that much colder in the mornings!

Are you sure the BIOS didn't default back to it's original settings?

If everything's still overclocked then it's sweet.

And 5-5-5-15 is probably as tight as it'll run at that speed. Have you stress tested with Orthos yet?

Yup, ran Orthos overnight and it was fine. BIOS hasn't defaulted, still on overclocked settings. Now the question is, should I push furthur? What are safe temps?

Yeah I'd try to push it further. And try to keep the core temp under 55c at load.
