What's a good shout out for £20-40?

Going from a previous post, I have actually ended up selling my 270x now, well my mum did as she has a zon account for £70, so now I will have to look for a decent sub card or that price range depending on how much actually reach my account after finalising, doesn't matter which team it's from, but would like to play my games decently.

All I'm playing right now is:

Hardline when it works properly
Titanfall
NFS 15
FIFA 15 & 16
Unravel
Red alert 2
Sim city 2013

I have played some mass effects and do now own crysis 1/2/3 which I may play if in the mood, so it doesn't have to fantastic(if that's possible at this price range) and I've stopped playing the division now as I haven't been bothered.

So yeah if you needed a stop gap card with a small budget what would you likely look out for? I know what I could get, but after options.

What about something like a 6850/6870's?

Ive just checked e-mail and 6870's are on buy it now for £40.00

Emm,why did you sell your R9 270X??

That's what I was wondering, if it was to buy something cheaper and have some money left over you can't go expecting to run modern games on the replacement, at least not very well, It certainly won't be a 1080p card, 720p or 1600by900 with low settings @ 30 fps sounds about it.

Thanks for replies.

Yeah I was asking about a graphics card for £40 or less, but unfortunately money was reduced after all was sorted, but now I have actually got £40 a 2gb evga 660 with box and everything on the tree had o had my eyes on has now sold.

I can get a 7850 for £25 which I'm now thinking about, nearly got a 550ti, but at £22 I thought it be a big mistake.

With low/disabled settings and a 1280x720 res I can play titanfall just fine, nice and smooth with my hd 4400 graphics, just looks like a 360 ha, but to answer other questions, no I didn't sell my 270x to expect same performance from lower tier cards, I sold the card because I couldn't sell my computer and needed the money, therefore I could make the sacrifice, just intel is doing what I need currently for couple games, but obviously can only go so far and until I can afford BF1/Titanfall 2/new cod or even get round to buying BO3 and gta5 I'm not that bothered how powerful a card it, just enough to play games beyond Intel capability until I can afford a new RX card.

Others might not understand but you sound very grounded to me. Making sacrifices for what could be seen by some as not a lot of money and have realistic expectations of game performance with a lesser card. Good luck with your future card.

The 7850 is a great price and a great card that'll run anything okay at up to 1600x900.

I've owned 4 in total over the years and was on a 1600x900 monitor back then too.

EDIT Is it a 2 gb 7850 or 1 gb?

Ideally you want a 2gb but I suppose at £25 it's more than likely a 1gb model but it'll still be fine so go for it before it sells.

That'd be a very good deal. I had a 7850 for about a year and it was a great little card on the 900p monitor I had at the time. Not far off the 270X you sold either, given that's just a rebranded 7870.

quite a few of them clock nicely too, mine sits at 1200MHz quite happily :) I'd still say a 7850 is a great card today so long as you're happy to drop some settings. I'm running at 1080p and all but a few "aaa" titles run fine. I've never understood why triple-a means runs like a turkey but hey.

The 7850 chip was called Pitcairn, With the launch of Radeon 200 series it was renamed to Curacao and used in the 265, and with Radeon 300 series it was rebadged to Trinidad and used in the 370.

I'm not sure if I be able to get it now as they said Thursday which might be no good for me, but they told me it's the 2gb model, it's up for 30, but 25 is the lowest, I don't know what brand it is, but I know it's a great overclocker from what I read, will have to see.

I have a 1920x1080 monitor, But I play titanfall on low at 1280x720 with my Intel graphics without issue.

Thanks for other replies also.

As a back up to what I said above, I am looking at a 650ti 2gb model, though I am still looking about see if anything else pops up, I'm trying to avoid ordering.

But another question I have, will any of the cards suggested in this thread play rainbow 6 siege? I know my superclocked 1gb ran an offline version well enough under 25fps which was playing for my liking, but that was free for testing where as last night I saw the normal game for £12.90 on CdKeys  and at that price it's very tempting, more so to not buy other games I was looking at lol, but obviously rather not waste the money if I can't play it.

Example that 560 ran FO4 fine under 25fps, but ran horrible with my 270x despite over 30/40fps which is what I want to avoid ha.

That's a shame, I'd make the effort to get it, As mentioned it has a chip that has been used in the subsequent ranges right up to the R7 370 so support has continued and it will continue to age a lot better than something like a 650ti.

Thanks for that, I will see what I can do about it, but thinking about it now, I usually get money for Christmas so I can see what's in the sales as at £100 the RX 460 looks decent for a new purchase right now, but maybe be able to get a 480?(or wing it for a new card from family ha) Which is my aim really, so I just really need something dx11 to tie me over as I don't think I could put up with my Intel for those months :D
