Hi,

As the topic says, whats a good way, I have followed the instructions off the as5 site for the dual core cpu's and have put a line down the processor(might have put a bit much, not sure) and I am using a Zalman 9500AT cooler, I get the following temps for stock speeds

Idle - 41C/40c both cores
Load-Small FFTs/Stress Cpu 11mins so far, and Im at 50c both cores.

I do think these are a bit high, I still would like to overclock as well.

Got any advice ?

this comes up again and again and everyone has there own preferred method, i have built 10+ c2d systems, and how i do it is this
i put a rice grain size blob on the chip, and spread it all over the chip so you cant see any silver of the chip through the paste, also i think less is better, so as little as you can get away with, no doubt others will state their own preference

this works for me

Oh, and forgot to say that these are coretemp temps, I get 36c idle with asus probe, and the same in the bios, but then I also know that coretemp reads the die (or something like that)

It's the same for any cpu a thin layer spread accross the cpu just so you can barely see the metal underneath dont put any on the heatsink.
Over the years with many a cpu i've had found this the best method too much and the temp is higher.

I opt for the "wack a bit of AS5 in the middle of the core and wip the first credit/debit/store card outta my wallet and spread" method :D
Works a treat

Saying that my last 5 CPU's have been mobile jobbies on desktop boards, so im pasting stright on the core not on the IHS
