whats a safe temp for an I7 overclock?

Hi there,

am currently overclocking my I7 920. I have got up to 3.8 ghz. Currently the max tempreture I have reached with prime 95 is 69 Cpu volts are 1.25.

Does this seem ok and safe?

I been messing with my 920 this week and managed 100c on multiple cores. it just clocks down to 12x until it cools down then storms off again.

that was on about as i messed a lot 1.38v. took about 25+min to reach max temp. (using Noct dual fan on air)

Logic is. if intel built that protection into the cpu. they know what they are doing and that must be ok for its expected lifetime?. chukkle

Looks like you got a good 920.

I would be looking for 4Ghz if 69 is the max you are reaching @ 3.8.

Most people say keep it under 80°C.
