I have a 480 8GB at the moment, I game at 1080p 144hz and I'm wondering what a step from a 480 would be

Also I notice that 480s are selling for over £300 on eBay when they were much cheaper to buy does anyone know why

GTX 1070, GTX 980ti and Vega series in a few weeks.

RX 480 and other mid range cards are high in price due to high demand from gamers and crypto miners. (crypto miners winning the battle atm)

Wait till Vega is out and bringing Nvidia prices down and they look to buy either Vega or a second hand 1080. second hand 1080 could be the best bang for buck soon. That currently lies with the 1070 but thats not a huge step up from your 480 tbh.

480 to 1070 is pretty massive jump tbh, a 1070 is the only card currently I'd probably consider a viable upgrade from my 290x. But the prices are silly. My brother bought one for 370 last year....

I'd say the prices have gone up.
You can get 1080s for sub 500 which I'd consider a better buy

As for the MM and 1070's I don't know.

A lot of people are in the same boat, prices are pretty much all over the place.

It's all relative, your card is worth more than it should be and that offsets the higher 1070 price, I am in same boat, going to sell my r390 whilst going is good

1070's have gone up a tad, you could get them for £350 - £450 with £400 - £410 being normal starting price for decent partner card when released.

The 1080's have gone down in price since release from £575 - £700 to now £470 - £620. Most models are £50-£75 cheaper.

The only cards worth considering over a 480, are the FuryX 980ti 1070 1080 1080t and the two forthcoming AMD Vega cards.
Prices are all over the place, I would say wait for Vega's 2nd card (the 1070 competitor) to come out and the market 'should' steady out
