Ok, I really can't make up my mind what to do with current hardware now that I got 360... I want to downgrade, but still want to play the games I have.

Also, not sure if this better in games or GPU sections, but though best option was here.

So for the following games, what card would you recommend for around 1440x900/1680x1050, with medium or low settings?

COD4, ET:QW, GRAW, GRAW2, Bioshock, UT3, and maybe few other games like that... will probably sell my copy of Crysis, so not bothered about that.

Am thinking maybe 8600gt, but that might be just a little too slow...

If you want to be a bit future proofed: 8800GT 512mb.

Then I may as well keep my current card :)

I don't see myself playing much on the PC for a while, and if I do will be the games listed more than likely.

So.... I have a G92 GTS, but am looking to take a step back (or several)

Then just get an 1950 pro, it'll run the likes of CoD4 maxed and for the rest it'll be fine for medium gfx gaming.

Ive got an 8600GTS and it plays CO4 great on high settings at 1440x900. Also pretty good on crysis @ medium settings.:)

Not much money to be made from downgrading though, and it increases the likelihood of needing to upgrade in the future.

I doubt it, my old 6800GS still runs everything playable, a twice as fast card ( 1950pro) should last another year.
He could make 70-100€ from it and that's still a lot of cash.

Game makers are not fools, it's a myth you need the newest gfx card for all games, CoD4 etc are playable & enjoyable with stuff like 6600gt/7300gs and the like...

A 1950 pro still runs most named games at least @ medium, mostly upto high still...
EDIT: infact it's fine for all OP named games to run on high, except the graw games, wich I just don't know as I never touched em.

Well, stuck the other halfs X1950 Pro in my machine for a bit last night and had a quick run through some games....

COD 4 ran wonderfully, and while I did not get chance to test ET:QW, I am sure that would be fine.

However, UT3 was quite laggy, and Bioshock and Graw 2 were only just playable on low. Crysis was, well, Crysis.... nough said.

This makes me think that any new games to come out will probably just not be playable, even on low. So I think I am looking at a minimum 8800GS/3850 Pro. This means will likely only make £60 or £70 on my 8800GTS, so just not sure it would be worth selling my GPU.

My quad, however, I do think I will sell...

Im in the same boat, except I bought a ps3. I have not played a pc game for months and have no intention of playing any of them again. I would say keep what you got and just dont upgrade for another 2-3 years. Second hand your parts aint worth much, say you get £120 for your 8800GTS. That only buys you a 3850. So, not worth it.

Personally im keeping my 8800GT, G0 Q6600, 4 gb geil but gonna run ubuntu soley instead of dual boot now. Im just never gonna upgrade for years.
