Whats all this about??

Opened up this particular folder on my USB drive and found all these strange files. The 'Date Modified' info is all false as some are either in the future or too far in the past etc.

When I press delete I get the message shown in the screenshot. Any other file on the USB stick can be deleted.

So, as title, whats all this about?

Corrupt data, or segment of the disk.

Run chkdsk X: /F (replace X with whatever drive the device is).

Once done, i would backup any good data there, and format it (NOT a quick format either) as your taking a risk if you don't.

it looks like a possible virus infection, i had a similar incident but i just deleted them through my linux install

I think its corrupt or something. I used a backup program to back up my data and the files didn't show in the backup. Will do what you said. Thanks.

Instead of formatting, I scanned for errors and selected to attempt to recover from them. This seems to have got rid of the files...
