Hi all i usually use AVG but having problems with it i have heard that Avast is good does anyone use it and does it have all the features that AVG has like firewall and anti virus and spyware ,anti rootkick anti spam ,identity protection etc all in one pakage so is avast good or kaspersky want the proper version and something that has everything so wont have to worry about buying other software aswel

thanks Dean

do you actually use all that stuff you listed? seriously?..

honestly MSE and the built in firewall of windows 7/vista is rock solid. unless you are an idiot and pretty much deliberately infect your computer then there's no need to bother with anything else. Btw "being an idiot" includes not keeping windows updated - IIRC 8/10 of the most widespread viruses last year made use of holes which microsoft had patched months earlier. People just hadn't bothered using Windows Update.

This site has benchmarks which will help you determine which is the best for performance. As for features, I've said my piece.

I assume you only want free programs. If you're willing to pay, Norton 360 (most recent version) has literally everything and is great all round. That's what i'd be using if a) it was free and b) i actually needed any more of the features it has which MSE doesn't

We use NOD32 at work, and with the new Version 5, it looks like a good bet. You'd probably want the Smart Security one as it ha the firewall etc, like you want. Although, I use MSE at home and not had any issues.

dont think i want that anyway to be honest looking at avast or kaspersky

kaspersky is very intrusive, I was going to use it however I put it on 4 customers machines as a test and ended up removing it from 3 of them, because it made the machines slow and kepy asking questions the users did not understand...
