I've been looking at these heatsink pads that you can use instead of the paste and was wondering how they perform?

I'm also interested to know what others on this forum are using in order find out which is best.

Reported differences between different thermal paste is very minimal, maybe half a degree. Big temp changes are more likely to be from fitting the heatsing better/worse.
I usually just use the stuff that comes with the heatsink, but invested in some geil copper stuff from here the last time I put in an order as my gigabyte stuff was running low and it works well.

There's not much in it to be honest. I have used all sorts but got given a tube of AS5 so have been using that.

as posted above, just make sure you get a good fit over the CPU and use a very THIN layer.

When applying the thermal paste, just apply a small pea sized amount on the centre of the CPU and mount the heatsink on top. The weight of the heatsink will ensure the thermal paste is spread and at the correct thickness.

People say you need to apply it onto the CPU and then spread it yourself so its really thin.

I've tried both methods and not noticed any difference. Only difference was the first method was far quicker and created less mess.:p
