Whats the best priced CPU for performance vs price.

Also it will not be overclocked.

e.g. System used for gaming, movies and media.

Running a 8800GT, 500MB, 4 GB Ram and p35
 
Not overclocking, I'd say the Q6600 would be hard to beat?

Would be a bit more 'future proof' too than the equivalent dual core.
 
If you're not overclocking, you may be better going for an E8400, which runs at 3ghz, and is about the same price as the q6600. I'd personally get the q6600 (which is what i did do :) ) and overclock it!
