HI all,i,m coming up to upgrading my pc and having had it custom made 2 yrs ago i want to update it 1 last time,So i have been looking at this OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz Max / Asus Rampage II Extreme Intel X58 Motherboard / Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle.

My questions are

1.will this fit in my thermaltake armor case
2.will i need any other things ie for cooling etc

At present i have a q6700
680i motherboard and a gtx 285 oc

i only use my pc for gaming mainly fps and web browsing etc

i have only been waiting as i want to put windows 7 in 64bit on pc when its out as at the moment i,m using windows vista 32 bit and upgrading now i wouldnt get the benifit of the 6gb of ram etc so want to do it all at the same time.I won,t be doing the upgrade myself as having to pay for a pc repair shop to do the work for me as i wouldnt have a clue what i,m doing and even tho its going to cost me £200 for them doing it i,m hoping it will all be fine after the trouble i have had with another pc shop buggering up my pc 3 times including oc my pc for me then it being all wrong bsod on me crashing then my graphics card blowing up which they denyed was there fault not had much luck finding a good place hope this 1 will be better:)

Many thanks

200 TO INSTALL THAT??

You could use that to get an SSD or even go towards one of the new cards that are coming out.

I would seriously recommend just taking a couple hours to do some research. Its so much easier than you think, if you get stuck you can juust throw a topic up here and im sure everyone will be willing to help.

blimey i would'nt charge that to install and build a pc ripping you off, have a read up on how to install it all, basically posh lego really and post on here if you get stuck,i have done a two step by step guides on here or follow my one in sig if needed to get you going

Mexan hat is.... wait

Yeh please don't let a local shop charge you £200 to build a computer. I'm sure someone on here would do it for you if you're close to anyone.

No way would I pay someone to build a system for me, and definitely not £200!!!

Another £30 and you could buy a 2nd GTX285 for SLI..

Like the others have stated, take some time out to read up about building PC's and do it yourself..

It is a simple process, like advanced lego blocks mate..

If you lived near me I would quite happily help you build it free of charge!

Hi guys thanks for your replys,i know its a lot of money but really i don,t understand all the settings etc i used to have my pc in raid 0 but somehow its gone wrong now i have 3 hard drives showing instead of 2,i spent over £2000 pound 2yrs ago having this pc built by a very well known local pc shop and i have had nothing but trouble since with it the wiring is all over the place in the case and i just don,t know how to sort it out,i want to upgrade it and be happy with what i have,i suffer with heart problems and have spent along time in and out of hospital over the yrs i can,t work cos of my heart and will need a transplant at some point, anyway if there is anyone nr Lincoln thats can do a upgrade for me then i,m more than willing to pay just fed up geting ripped off but then when you don,t understand you have to pay for these things.

thanks again

ps the £200 was for ripping it out and starting again and that was there estimate price 6-7hrs at £29.00 per hour plus additional £65 for installing windows 7 64bit when it comes out.

It should fit no problems mate. Have you got the link for that bundle ?

th bundle is if this site m8 OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz Max / Asus Rampage II Extreme Intel X58 Motherboard / Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle

thanks for the link m8,i would really like to do it myself but if you saw the inside of my pc you would understand and seein as this is my only pc if i got into problems i have no way to get help on the net and end up taking it to a pc shop to do it and probably cost me even more, all i want is a little oc machine i,m not after taking it to the extreme just something with good stable speeds etc and that will last i don,t think i be doing another upgrade after this 1 so just soemthing that will keep upto date with the games cos thats all i use it for.again thanks for the link i have a look :)

At the end of the day £200 does not justify learning how to build a computer. Where do you live, you might get lucky and have someone here be able to do it for you.

I seriously recommend just sitting down and reading how to do it, its so much easier than you think.

Sorry to sound like a mum but really, £200 is ridiculous, they should be ashamed to charge that!

Hi i Live in Lincoln as for the upgrade i have about £1000 which i have saved up but i am so nerverous i get the wrong stuff and be left with stuff i either don,t need or is not going to work i let the pc shop do it cos they know what will work i,m not clued up that much on it all only what i read for other ppl or reviews.

thanks again.

Ps as i said i,m more than willing to pay anyone who like a project of doing it and they can have the old stuff if they want its no good to me after..

i thought i post what i have at the moment as well so it give anyone a idea as to what i need to replace etc...

graphics card nvidia xfx oc gtx 285

i understand how you feel i was like that at first, came on here and they did my shopping list for me,i brought the gear read up on it,and took the plunge, looking back i have to giggle to meself at how simple it really was, everything seems hard when just looking at it,but when you build it everything slots in easy and only goes in one way so very hard to make a mistake.save your money and spend it on a bit of hardware and just ask for help, even email me if you get stuck or msn me

Hi rick i just looked at you build god i be a very happy chap if i had something half as good as that, yes trying to find a good place to get what you want is really hard over the yrs i have tried 2-3 pc places i nearky went on the last build for a alienware pc just for peace of mind really but the pc shop said they could do it so but my faith in them, they addmitted afterwards that this at the time was the first time they done this and i have been gutted since i had all these problems with it and having to take it back for them to repair at a cost of £90 quid each time plus the graphics card they blew up cos they oc my pc all wrong i,m just worried i end up with the samething all over again and i really can,t afford to make the same mistake again thats why i,m in a panik with it now,if i attempt it on my own and it does go wrong i,m going to have to take it to them and yes they get it up and running again but not how i like it to be so i be just settling for 2nd best again and money wasted i am torn with just getting a pre-built pc for peace of mind.

im glad you like it thats my first watercooled pc,was i nervous doing that very very scared at first now i have ripped it all apart and doing it again,i think you will be fine mate to be honest just do a bit of reading and asking questions on here for help, take pics of each stage let people comment on it just like my builds, that way if you make a msitake or something can be done better then you can change it.worry about the overclocking once you built it take your time and do it in stages you be fine.

As Rick said you can also add me on msn ...... can help you through the whole process. I promise it will not be hard at all :)
