So i was going to get a 780 but after hearing what people have said about the 3GB memory is it better to get the 290 which has got 4gb? Or dose it matter?

Thanks

After a lot of umming and arrgin I've chosen the 290X over the 780ti. Extra vram, lower price, Mantle, true audio, that's a lot of value. Either card will be great until 20nm in 6-8months time, overall I think the 290X just edges out the GTX780ti, maybe not on raw performance but as an overall package..

Wait one to two months and see what the pricing looks like. Non-reference R9 290 and R9 290X should be out in the next month or so and we could see further price movements IMHO.

Look at what the last two to three weeks has done to prices.

Or just wait forever and never buy anything.

Or just get overexcited and then spend more money than required, like the people who said the same as you and got GTX780 cards at £475+ three weeks ago(which are £100 to £150 cheaper with three games too),GTX770 cards at £300+ which are now £50 to £90 cheaper or R9 290X cards just before the R9 290 launched(another £100 there at least).

In the last two and half weeks, high end cards have dropped by massive amounts and there is still more to go.

However,of course its not your money,so its easy to spend.

ye i think i might wiat 1 or 2 more weeks and see what happens with the 780, if they go down again will buy one , if not will wait for the 290 to be released and get better

Or maybe not procrastinating will pay off. If I was on a budget I may be tempted to wait too I suppose but then it could all be for nothing, in which case you've lost nothing but time.
Then again, buying high end cards comes with the risk that it's going to drop in price, if everyone was bothered about this then nobody would ever buy anything.

Tarinder(reviewer) over on Hexus said AIB R9 290 cards will be shipping at the end of November, which is around three weeks. So this is why I said a month(at least).
