Ever since i build my little budget ryzen pc i have been using sleep mode instead of turning the pc off...
I think ive read somewhere that usinf sleep instead of powering on and off is actually better for your hardware and makes it last longer cause powering on and off isnt rly that good for it
I was wondering should i keep using sleep or turn it off at night?
I want whats best for my pc's health heh..

It will likely be obsolete long before you cause any permanent damage through shut downs. Just do whaever works for you.

Well sleepmode works best as i can get back to what i was doing the nite before but i havent even shut down my comp for like 3 months is it that bad to always use sleep only? Or should i shut it down once in a while or a reboot

As long as you have hybrid sleep enabled, there shouldn't be any problem, maybe the increased writes to SSD when sleeping - but that's important in case of a power cut.

Having an SSD I dont even have to wait for it to start up after it been shut down. Walk into the room, press the power button, take my jacket off and its already on by that time :D

Both, if I’m doing something like installing, downloading or doing updates then I will do it either over night or while I’m out at which point it will likely go to sleep mode, my laptop, my itx computer both goes off after awhile, however if I am finished using my computer and going away or want to play Xbox and not have all things running at once I will turn the computer off.

You have to be careful with sleep mode or standby/hibernation as sometimes it can result in issues and a reinstall of windows is needed.

This ^^^ lol, think some people in here must be using PC's from the 90's, if they have to wait that long for it to boot, after power down

I always shut down. Windows boots fast enough that it's on the login screen by the time I've sat down.

But sleep, on or off never does any harm. My laptop is often put to sleep as its more convenient. And my servers run 24/7 for year after year.

I've occasionally had corruption in the hibernation file which has required a bit of repair to the Windows installation its reasonably rare but also sometimes devices don't resume properly which can cause issues sometimes leading to corruption of the OS.

I've had multiple devices running for years some always on, some sleeping between usage some turned on and off daily and never seen any consistent difference between them in terms of long term wear and glitchy issues with hibernation are fairly unusual as well.

By the time problems crop up usually the device is long obsolete.

I guess issues can occur if there's a power outage while the system is sleeping/in standby.

The same could be said for leaving computers on or in fact using computers at any point without a UPS. Whilst it "could" happen, it's exceptionally unlikely and there is very little you can do to prevent it.

If you're using hibernation or hybrid sleep then you'll be using no power anyway, it just means your PC might resume a bit quicker than it would from a cold boot. If you're just using S3 sleep where all your data is retained in RAM then you'll be using power constantly for no real reason.

I personally always shut down and do a fresh boot every day I use my desktop, maybe just out of habit. I know that my hardware doesn't like being slept since a recent Windows 10 major update anyway (it will sleep but never wake up) but even if I bought new hardware I'd probably continue just shutting it down normally. Especially considering that with modern motherboards and SSDs, even cold boots are really fast.
