If you want to upgrade the size - then I would suggest the 3008WFP, 30 inches and a huge 2560x1600 resolution. However, this is a 2 year old monitor - I would probably suggest waiting for a new version considering the cost of this beast.
The U2711 is also worth a look. The diagonal size may not be any larger, but it is wider (and slightly less tall) so the total screen area is slightly less than the 2709W. However, it uses an IPS panel and the resolution is a huge 2560x1440. Also, compared to the 2709W it has a lower input lag as well as the many benefits of IPS over S-PVA panels.
Or you could decide to go mad and get one of these.
The problem I'm facing is with this monitor being so hot! and eating up a lot of energy as well. I'd like something that is cooler and less power hungry. But I guess if you want top end you have to take it as they come.
Probably a second one will be a good choice - if I can get it cheap enough.
