I've got a laptop that comes with 1 GB DDR II SDRAM - 400 MHz - PC2-3200 ( 1 x 1 GB ) and I'm looking to swap that chip out for a 2gb one.

Which out of these two would be the better option?

Kingston 2GB DDR2 667MHz Laptop Memory Sodimm Non-ecc CL5 200-pin Unbuffered 1.8v

Kingston 2GB DDR2 533Mhz Laptop Memory Sodimm Non-ecc CL4 200-pin Unbuffered

I wasn't sure as the CL is lower on the 533Mhz, not sure what the fastest speed the laptop supports with it coming with the 400MHz. Which would you opt for?

If they're roughly the same price, I'd opt for the 667Mhz. If your laptop will go to that speed ram, you system may get a small speed boost, if it wont and downclocks, you may benefit from tighter timings as its better rated RAM. Gives you some leeway to experiment with timings/speeds too if you have those options on your laptop :)

If your laptop has 400Mhz DDRII its getting on a bit and 2 gigs instead of 1 are unlikely to help you much.

It's actually for a Samsung Q1 Ultra, one of those Ultra mobile PCs. Apparently 2gb helps a lot but it seems (I think) to be OCZ ram rather than Kingston ram which gives better performance.

Unfortunately, I can't source a single 2GB OCZ chip, everyone does 2x1gb. I'm not sure if the UMPC can run faster with the faster Mhz or if I would be better off with the tighter timings.
