Whats better

Main pluses imo: well with the e2160 you'll be looking at ~55C under load @3GHz :) and its more energy efficient
Definetly e2160 is faster but in normal use you wont notice the diference, seti would run "faster"
what kind of games do you play?
To tell you the truth i'm not sure if i'd bother to upgrade to e2160 if i were you. I went from p4 3.2ht to my e2180 and can say its improvent but you already got dual core.
Are you sure your mobo can take c2d? If you'd need to change mobo then go for quad or e8xxx to make it a worthy upgrade.

depends what you play etc.
if you clock the 2160 itll fly away from the pentium if you do anything cpu intensive.

i think i won't bother with the upgrade then! As it seems to get a noticeable difference i need to spend more, which is pointless when my system does me fine!

Surely if you can get away with just a CPU upgrade and you sell the P4 D then the actual costs to update your system will be small and probably make it worth while?

if you get a 2nd hand e2160 or there abouts it is going to be £35 or so.
Overclock and you'll be way out ontop.
