Hey, whats the standard BT unlimited ADSL like nowadays? Is it still a nightmare? throttled evenings etc or? thinking of switching as itd be cheaper for me as i pay bt sport seperate.

Never had any issues with BT, ping was always good, download speeds always max.

Moved to Plusnet because it was cheaper. Unless you need to use support (Indian call centre), then BT are a decent ISP in my experience.

I've not had any issues at all, been a good service.

Unfortunately it's only 10mbps or so, but that's the way it goes with ADSL I guess.

On the plus side it has cost about £1 per month or something on average, which makes up for it.

Hmmm ok, because im with plusnet at the moment.. and i get throttled in the evenings and random bad pings on certain games. Its really frustrating to figure out the problem. I know P2P is throttled so i assume that would mess with console online games for example?

They offer the pro addon which is said to sort it all but im a bit sceptical and dont want to waste money on something that isnt going to improve. I pay £38 for broadband and calls atm (an extra £24 i pay for bt sport seperate), with BT it would be £35 and thats with bt sport so not sure what to do!

I have a BT home line and business line. Home line does drop from 600KB/s to around 300KB/s during evenings whereas the business line stays at a constant 500KB/s.

I don't use P2P much but I haven't ever noticed any deliberate throttling.

Ping is perfect except for when the bandwidth is saturated due to a download/upload.

Im getting high pings all the time now... My ping in teamspeak is 20ms, pingtest etc 20ms... yet in any game its 160ms.. This has to be a plusnet problem right? I just dont get it im pulling my hair out with this! i got in touch with them no the forum they reset my line because they said i should be getting closer to my max speed of 8mb rather than 5mb. But its still utter trash.

For anyone that knows, so i know what im dealing with i guess.. If my broadband speed is decent all the time, and my ping to VOIP, and when i do pingtest etc is always fine, then does that mean high pings in games is 100% an ISP problem? and it lies with plusnet? or? Its really frustrating as i just dont know what to do about it, im getting no luck out of plusnet themselves regarding the ping issue its like there avoiding my question! But i dont want to change ISP hastily if theres a solution, as i these things just get you so annoyed you act! haha

thanks for any help

Plusnet use the same Lines as BT so a switch would only result in gaining BT's horrendous customer service.

OP i was having the same issues as you on my ADSL connection, keep pestering them to reset your line or reroute your traffic till it works properly.Took me 9 months to get BT to sort mine out :( All my gaming traffic was getting routed through Europe for some inexplicable reason.

I see what your saying, but if plusnet are the ones not routing properly, then surely a switch to BT would solve that? they must have different policies or something surely? dont know how it all works! I just want to be able to play games in the evenings with no issue man :(

I've not had any ping issues gaming with Plusnet, infact ping is much much better than what i got when i was with BT, with Plusnet i also get full speed 24/7 whereas with BT i was getting slowdowns to less than 2meg during peak hours.
