Hey guys,

Just started to get into FC5 and its awesome, the only issue im having, is that each time I play, few and far between..I will be roaming FC, nothing special and then, without warning.. the game will freeze for a several seconds (can still hear in-game audio) an then resume, no crashes or damage as such, just frustrating...

Is anyonw having similar issues?

PC specs are :
7500 i5 CPU
1070 GPU
16gb DDR4 RAM
SSD
HD (which FC5 is installed on)

Should I try a custom fan curve on my STRIX 1070? Its on standard (Fan off until 55c)

Cheers guys!

I would guess at something in the background, either windows or a program you have installed using your hard drive at the same time.

Do you have page file turned off on your ssd? Something might be trying to use it and having to use the slower HDD instead

my guess, depending on what res/detail you play on - would be either the cpu or hdd
recommended cpu is a 4c8t cpu (4770) whereas you have a 4c4t cpu
also with large maps, there'll be lots of loading textures, so either trying to load off the hdd or swapfile (if swapfile is on hdd - ideally it should be on ssd)

Thanks for the swift replies guys!

Im running 1080p at high detail.

Can you please tell me how I check the "page file"? and adjust??

-Not enough CPU threads
-HDD is not good for open world games usually
-Probably have background processes hammering the HDD

=stutter.

The problem is certainly not GPU as you suggested. If it was, the framerate would consistently tank when the card heated up. It wouldn't be totally fine then freeze up then be fine again.

Solutions:
Reduce number of background tasks $0
Buy 7700K CPU and overclock it $300 (used) to $400 (new)
Decent CPU cooler for 7700K (does not come included) ($40-120)
Buy SSD and install the game on it ($40 for a 120GB- $400 for 1TB (recommended))
(all prices in CDN $ because I am Canadian)

=no more stutter.

Honestly you would be very wise to upgrade to an i7. Quad core i5's can't handle it any more when it comes to gaming. The fact that most PC games are also on console, and PS4 and Xbone are 8 thread, does not help matters. Intel didn't make i5's 6 core this gen for no reason. Even those are destined for the bin in a few years.

If you are serious about gaming get an 4c/8t i7. And an SSD. These are critical.

BTW you can't OC your 7700K unless you have a Z270 board. If you don't have one, get the regular 7700 which comes with a CPU cooler. (technically this is a convenient lie since you can OC via BCLK but this is highly non recommended)

Digital Foundry have reported that the game does have an issue with frame timings and this happens for everyone, some just notice it more than others.

I would wait for a patch as I am sure one is on its way.
