whats causing my terrible internet in the evening.

If the router is dropping several times a day that'll probably prompt the DLM to enable interleaving with will stop the unit syncing at 8128.

If he is on Sky Connect his max upsteam is 448, so his SNR is correct.

Yes, you're right :o. It's been so long I forgot how low adsl uploads are :D

Interleaving? yes/no. I'm not sure if sky interleave by default, though I'd assume they do, but if anything that would improve a long line and multiple daily drops certainly don't suggest that :p Still, my GT used to do 8128 with 6/36db, with 6/33db you'd expect the same. Even the most conservative speed estimate will put 33db ~7600 and the difference in BRAS profiles from 7360 to 8128 is 1mb.

Saying it's sky is mute since it's bts network and equipment so it really does sound like the routers the problem. If you need your sky login name & password to try another router just backup your routers settings and open the file in word pad, they'll be in plain text

I have to disagree, the op clearly states there are disconnection problems and high latency, poor speeds in the evening. He may well have a line fault, however it is still unlikely to cause latency/speed issues at specific times.

IMO the router is not at fault (pending further testing), however the usual stuff needs doing, like connecting to master socket, then test socket etc, dont use any extension sockets/leads etc to try and identify the cause of the disconnections issue.

The latency/speed issues I'm almost certain are due to the client being on Sky Broadband Connect as per my previous post. It is possible that the client is connected via LLU but limited by a line profile, if so then liasing with Sky to check when a bandwidth upgrade will go ahead at his local exchange or congestion point could be fruitful.

Thinking about it, my parents-in-law had terrible disconnection problems with their BT broadband. BT sent them a new home hub and this resolved the issue.
