After leaving the pc alone for some time (haven't worked out how long it takes) i get a black screen saying:

Reboot and select proper Boot device or insert boot media and press a key

I have to power down and boot up again. Could my SSD be on the way out? It only started doing it today.
Looking in application event viewer I find 36! identical entries whenever this error occurs (not critical red) but it tells me nothing:

Is this a cause or a symptom?
On win 7 64. Malwarebytes and MSE come up blank. Any ideas appreciated.

No problems when I'm using the pc either.
I thought it could be a problem with the pc going to sleep but I've never had sleep settings turned on, I've double checked and they're still turned off.

I've been running this rig for a couple of years, never had this problem before would I really need to update bios' for it now? I've always been hesitant about doing it in case I screw it up.

Davids right, I could have worded it better obviously.

Yeah I've been looking through them, nothing stands out. I haven't changed anything either and haven't installed anything that should mess with them.

After some more digging I found the problem.
I'm running an old revision of my Crucial M4 SSD firmware (009), it seems when you pass 5000 or so hours of run time you can start having problems.
My line of thinking didn't consider firmware problems because it happened suddenly and nothing else had changed. Weird problem.
I was reluctant to flash firmware incase I bricked it but the process wasn't as painful as I imagined.

Thanks for the help lads.
