Whats causing this problem?

Just built a new build

Athlon X3 425
HIS Radeon 5770
Gigabyte GA-M720 motherboard
Coolmaster 480watt PSU

The problem I am having is that when I boot up the PC I just get clicking sounds for about 20 seconds then it bleeps and boots up (or not at all on some rare occasions).

I got a spare Geforce 210 and that does not do this! But sometimes get a long beeb and does not post.

Do I have a fault with the 5770?

Would imagine it's something to do with your hard drives not your 5770?

The clicks are from the case speaker long short short rythrm. HDD is fine

You could try a different PSU to see if it is a power issue or try the HD5770 in another PC with a sufficient PSU to see if it is an issue with the graphics card.

Make sure the graphics card is seated properly (re seat it) and that it's connected fully.

ok tried 5770 in 2 other pc's and it hangs on boot up for 20 seconds before anything is posted on the screen. During this time I can hear fan reving up and down.
