When I start or restart my PC this is what I get:

I had a restart from sleep which is what's shown in the first pic, seem to get them every now and then. Once it's booted though everything is fine so not sure what's causing the lines on the screen during startup. Anyone had this before?

That looks like graphics card corruption to me, I would say your graphics card likely hasn't got long for thing world, if you are overclocking it, back the overclock off and see what happens

It's never been overclocked but it's still in warranty if it does go belly up.

I thought you were likely to say it was either an old card you had been overclocking 20% for years or a brand new one :p

Does it do this all the time though, when it's booted up, when you run something graphically intensive or just at post?

If you have another monitor and or another graphics card it's worth switching some bits around just to be certain. I am 90% sure that's you video card though.

The card (GTX 670) is about 13 months old I think. It just happens during POST, once I'm in Windows everything is ok and I don't get any artefacts or lines. Might be able to convince the wife I need an upgrade cos this one's got to go for repair :)

What motherboard? Using hdmi/dvi/vga from gpu to monitor? Could just need a mb BIOS update, seeing it only does it before windows loads

Maximus V Gene with latest BIOS and connecting via display port. I'll connect it via hdmi tomorrow to see if that works ok.

Managed to find a DVI cable in the loft and so far so good, looks like it was a dodgy display port cable. Is there any significant difference between using dvi/display port?

If its ok in windows its possibly the monitor struggling to get the right screen mode; my hazro 27" does something similar when i access the lovefilm website and play something...it will go funny for a second then correct itself.

It's been fine since I started using the DVI-D cable so it must have been the Display Port cable that was at fault.
