Hi could any one help me? Ive just built my very first with to much ambition and not enough understanding. The problem is that it wont boot! the power light on my mobo comes on and thats it. any is greatfull.

I take it from your "rambling" that you've built a new rig,

whats the spec? what components, etc have you checked the cabling and connections. how many beeps if any?

Yep, you need to post the full spec, make sure you have not missed any cables that should be plugged in to the motherboard. Also check your motherboard manual, as say 1 beep might mean the CPU is not seated correctly 2 beeps might mean the graphics card is not seated correctly and so on.

ouch! with a pc like that and so very little knowledge I only can suggest you get someone around to show you the roles.

if only i could find that some one. the better half aint happy ive spent so much on some thing that dont work as it is.Most people i know think water cooling is some thing thats done by your fridge.

WOW, did you buy the 8800's pre water cooled. You should try the system with 1 GFX card. Also try the system with 1 GB of ram make sure the BIOS is set to defaults. If none of that works, the one thing to do is to un watercool everything and see if it works like that.

ive checked all plugs over and over but nothing. ive tryed shorting the psu and that starts the psu fine but if i plug it in to the board then theres nothing.

You've got any extra power leads required plugged into the motherboard (i think there's one on the core2duo, sorta like on the P4) ?

have you got them fiddly power/reset connectors to the motherboard on right!

ive got the exrta power cable pluged in and the power reset pins. Theres a power on button on the board which dont work either.

is there any lights on on the board as there is a blue one on all the time near the ram

also if pci-e cards aint in theres a red light and the mobo shows letters if u can get it to turn on @ all,


u sure u have the power on, off button on the correct pins

Think you can take some pictures with everything plugged in one of us might be able to spot what's wrong. If not and it's all plugged in fine then I am guessing you might not of seated the CPU right. Or the motherboard is faulty.

ive heard that there is an issue with 680i mobos and galaxy 1kw psus. does any 1 know about this?

Sounds crazy i know but I had a similiar problem and I thought my motherboard had died, so I took it out and build up the pc on a piece of cardboard, everything outside the case, and it started up. Redid the riser screws and put everything back in and all worked fine. Maybe worth a try.
