I'm currently doing a rebuild of whole system ATM, incl sending case off for modding.

I ordered a SSD last Fri (as they were on good offer this weekend only), for delivery Mon, no sign of it Mon, now I wasnt too bothered apart from the whole waiting in all day for no reason thing, but on Mon night (effectively Tue, to be delivered Wed) I ordered some fans for part of my rebuild, I needed these urgently so went a webnote to OcUK asking if they could treat the order as urgent and ensure they were despatched Tue for Wed delivery. The good part is they obliged, however in the webnote reply they stated they would upgrade the delivery method at no extra cost from "DX Secure Next Day" to "DPD next day" I hadnt realised OcUK had gone away from DPD! Sure enough checking my shipping order E-Mail from OcUK it stated the SSD had been sent by "DX Secure Next Day", so I tried the track your order thing and no record, rang them, no record.

So I sent OcUK another webnote to make sure my SSD hadnt gotten lost as such, again OcUK themselves were good, chased it up n got back to me and its in the pipeline and having checked again today DX's tracking is showing it as due for delivery today, no time slot though, so got to wait in all day again. My fans being delivered by DPD (like I thought everything was) have got a 1hr time slot, bravo.

Now my fans are getting delivered today, and so is my SSD, the SSD was ordered Fri for next day delivery with DX, and the fans Mon night (Tue in effect) for next day delivery. I really hadnt seen anything about this DX company so have been on the shop to check and went to put an order through 90% completion til shipping sort of thing and theres no mention of this DX, only DPD/RM. Checking the shops delivery T&Cs same again.

So 2 points, one I really do not rate whoever this DX Secure Next Day company are (Next day? try next week)
And two, why are you using one company when advertising that you use another? DPD are great never had any problem, OcUK themselves have been very helpful throughout, I just think its a bit out of order using what seems to be a bit of a cowboy delivery company when you advertise to use a reputable one.

i think DPD are amazing, i ordered a build (my system) about 6 months and got a knock at the door a 7:15am lol, rushed down the stairs (nearly fell :p ) and got the rig built by 10am and started experiencing the power :D

Deep breaths - stare at your sig it always works for me (if ever you update it can i put in a request for Christina Hendricks, Scarlett Johansson or both ;))

From reading posts "DX Secure Next Day" seems to be a bit hit and miss for some members and the service you get (like most delivery companies) depends on your local despatch centre and delivery guy.

Oddly enough i ordered a 560Ti last week from OcUK and it came via "DX"; first time for me too. But i was fortunate that it arrived as scheduled but the surprising thing was that it was delivered by a guy in a small hatchback. He was polite enough and my package was in perfect condition.

You may have a poor service centre/delivery guy in your area (complain to DX they're very quick to respond - i have their email if your need it) - or you may have just been unlucky this time. Unfortunatley you wont know for sure until your next order...

Hope your SSD turns up soon Thriffles.

Plec, certainly will do re the updated sig

SSD has actually just turned up now, lol, and just as I came back upstairs with it, I received an E-Mail from them giving me my time slot of between 8am and 6pm, lol

I accept it may just of been a bad one off so to speak, I just dont think its very good OcUK advertise they use DPD then use someone else

BTW my guy also had a hatchback

You're a gent who obviously has very discerning taste - that or you like voluptuous women (then again who doesn't).

Perhaps they only use DX when you use the free delivery method?

I’m not sure, but they may upgrade it to DPD if you opt to pay for delivery or large/expensive orders. 5UB will be able to confirm this for you in about 5 minutes in the CS forum.

Perhaps it's the same poor guy with the biggest delivery route known to man using the Ford 'Tardis hatchback' edition to store his deliveries.

More and more smaller delivery companies are using cars – Hermes being one. They deliver for NEXT and Debenhams (I should know I’m on first name terms with my courier as my wife seems to get deliveries everyday :/) but i'm also starting to receive the odd package from other large retails companies through them.

I guess it's a cost cutting thing - but there may be a bonus - DPD wont leave deliveries with a neighbour but i'm hoping DX will. Hermes for instance will leave stuff in the shed in my back garden if requested.

I have had experience with Dx delivery being next next day myself. In both cases I ordered before 4pm (I think, anyway, before the cut off time) but relatively close to the cut off line. (about half hour before). I ordered before to make sure I got it the next day. After talking to 5UB about it in customer services forum. It basically seemed like it hadn't gone out the door fast enough, and he said in future ask him to absolutely make sure prior to this.

As for DPD vs Dx, I completely agree. DPD are much much better, and I've seen a few complaints about dx on the forums now, so can only presume it is much cheaper.

At checkout it clearly gives a list of delivery services and then you pick the one you want. I like DX secure as it is cheap delivery to NI and I get my stuff really quickly. However I can get it sent by DPD if I change the tick box.

5UB (and other OcUK staff forum members) are one of the main reasons i keep coming back and ordering from OcUK (and Yewen before him). He's always incredibly helpful and polite and without fail will try his best to follow up a request or problem.

Yeah Ive posted in customer service now cheers Plec, speaking to 5UB now, but there is no option for DX Secure Next Day, thats my point

I see no "DX Secure Next Day" delivery

DX secure don't use signwritten vans due to the nature of the goods they carry. I think DX are rubbish though, their tracking system is awful and they are so unreliable, so many people have had problems with them which puts people off ordering from OcUK, even though they have one of the best customer services around.

DPD are an awesome company. Timed slots and 1st class service. Nice one OcUK for using them. Much better than Citystink

You see no DX Secure delivery because you have lots of things in your basket and is way too heavy, so it has automatically gone with DPD, if you remove all of the items and just add a headset for example, it will give you the option for the free delivery to be DX Secure. DX Secure we only use for smaller items with the free shipping service, along with Royal Mail and DPD.

We offer three delivery methods, Royal Mail, DX Secure, and DPD when it comes to the free shipping service.

Depending on what you buy, depends on what service it is sent by if you are using the free shipping.

If it is a cable, it shall go by 1st Class post, if it is slightly bigger/heavier like a headset, it shall be by DX Secure, if it is more items like a lot of parts to build a computer or a computer system from ourselves it will be via DPD.

I don't think it is that hard to understand. - Please remember you will always have the option there to chose DPD, however please remember that for the free service we do offer the most cost effective as it would be unreasonable to expect us to ship a cable by a DPD courier service which means the shipping would be a lot more than the product, which is not reasonable for us to be doing considering we are paying the shipping costs for you.
