I am looking for some bath toys for my daughter and I can't seem to find the ones I want.

When I was young I had ones that stuck on the wall or hung over the edge or across the bath. They would have all sorts things to do on them that involved water falls, squirty things, sqeeky things, windy things, all sorts. But all I can find at the moment are floating or very basic wall toys that just don't have much to them.

Does anyone know where I can get that kind of toy?

we got one from JTS a cheapo wholesaler for our son. its not very good though. at 13 months he only really wants his ducks and little rubber toys. i guess as he gets older he will like more. i remember having a lego ship i loved playing with in the bath.

Early Learning Centre do some nice things - we have a stick on toy that you put shapes in and some little water wheels on the side.

Can't beat the Waitrose rubber duckies though :)

Smyths toyshop has a fair amount of things such as these. Our 18 month old lad is more interested in biting sponges then spitting the water out or trying to do headstands in the bath than playing with his toys that hang over the edge of it. :)

Cheers,

She's into pouring at the moment, she has a little plastic watering can and likes to pour water on everything in the bath. So I thought a wall hanging thing with fountains and wheels that moved with the water would be ideal.

The ELC website doesn't have much, so I think a trip in might be in order, and a nip around Toy R Us...if they don't have anything I will just get her some Mechano :D

Eating sponge was definately a far better thing to enjoy in the bath as a child than my plastic boat. That stuff tastes awesome.

This thread has brought back memories. I remember pouring bathwater onto everything going, even on my poor parents. Also loved those colour changing bubble bath bottles (forgot the name of them now :( )

My son (5) seems to make do with what he can find. He loves collecting empty bubble bath bottles :)
haha I seem to remember doing that with Matey bubble bath bottles :)

My favourite bath toy was Diver Dan, you put him on a platform that was stuck on the wall, pressed a button and he jumped into the bath, hours of fun :D

Early learning have a bath toy section.. and Amazon

I used to have one of these bad boys

Eating sponge takes me back.

I loved toys in the bath.

And I too want a battleship in my next bath.

how suitable for a bath is mechano? is it stainless steel? lego, due to being plastic, is great around water.

It's stainless steel if memory serves me right. Not suitable for really young kids or using in the bath though Dropping a tiny nut would be an issue. Young kid swallowing nuts and boots a bigger issue mind.

I had that! I must still have it somewhere. I MUST FIND IT!

I think an internet *High five* is in order!

I also remembers having a row boat with a frog in it that when you turned the cog the frog rowed the boat over the bath! :D

I think the best toy in the bath is the water it self. I would spend my entire time trying to make the biggest wave without spilling water over the edge. sliding back and forth back and forth :P
