being trying to get onto my xbox live for the past half hour. I've done everything i can think of. I have:

re-booted the router

un-plugged the ethernet cable and blown into the connection(on both the router and xbox)

entered the network info manually

i've even changed back to my old router (the one supplied by my isp, orange)

i can access the internet (using either router) i just can't log into xbox live

so i just did a connection test and it failed on the ICMP but passed everything before (ip address etc etc) so now its really started to **** me off and i have no idea what to do

thanks

oh forgot to add

i am at my xbox which i use all the time. I have being usig xbox live for the past few months with no problems and the xbox live itself has't ran out

What router is it?

Does it offer forwarding ranges of ports, or just single ports? They may be on separate tabs in your routers webconfig.

Where it allows you to specify a single internal port and a single external port, as an example
External 1003 Internal 1001 IP 192.168.0.1
This means that all data coming into port 1003 will be sent to port 1001 on 192.168.0.1

I'm only explaining that because you asked, but it's not what you need. You need to forward several ports to the same internal ports on the IP address your 360 is set with.

You need to forward:
UDP 88
UDP and TCP 3074

For the protocol, some routers allow you to choose 'Both', in which case it'll only need to be a single rule for port 3074. Your router may call it 'Port Mapping' or 'Virtual Server'

Microsoft support article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908874
Possibly some help from here: http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

Hope it helps! :)

Oh, you could enable UPnP on your router if it supports it

just got off the phone to microsoft customer support. Turns out the server is down for maintenance and wont be back up for 3odd hours.
