After upgrading my graphics card, mobo, adding an x-fi and setting up raid0 with 2 80gb sata II drives, im still puzzled as to what my pcs problem actually is.

In bf2, fear, hlf life 2, everytime i turn a corner and see new textures my pc stutter/hitches and its really gettin on my ****. Its been 1/2 months me trying to sort this out but im getting nothing.

Im thinking this problem is because of my cpu, ram or psu

I really want to sort this out without having to sell and buy a conroe setup

I have tried all the possible driver changes/driver settings/bios settings and the rest..

anyone know what it could be?

yeah, tried all possible overclocks too... aswel as experimenting with ram timings ect

i dont know much about psu's, but everest is showing me the following power voltage values....

+3.3v = 3.30v
+5v = 5.08
+12v = 12.22

I recomend running your graphics card at stock.

Infact try it with your hole pc at stock.

Have you tried a clean install of windows and the minimum number of drivers needed to run the game?

Running an inferior spec to that, maxed out in HL2 and BF2 with no stuttering from the textures at all.

New windows install, fully updated, disk defragged?

Could be a driver issue? Many years ago when AGP was all new and shiny I had a card installed and didn't have the correct motherboard AGP drivers. Moving in a straight line was fine, but turning round; i.e. swapping textures, and it crawled to a halt. Sounds like a similar problem, i.e. the bandwidth to the graphics card is somehow being restricted. If all else has failed, a re-install making sure you get the right drivers and checking that they are installed in the right order. I haven't really fiddled with a PCI-E system yet, just wondering if there is a similar setting to the AGP aperture that could affect things?

have you updated your bios? i know the ATI mobos were flakey to start with.

also have you run memtest/prime etc? is the PC stable under windows?

what about 3dmark performance? is that all ok?

could be something stupid like a soundcard issue if the 3d scores are fine and everything else checks out.

try taking out the X-fi and using the mobo sound.

I used to get the exact same problems with certain ATI drivers, ie the new ones ... i now use 6.6 and my problems have gone away, these new 6.8 drivers are doing my head in, i installed them yesterday ... played bf2 (my system is 100% rock stable with 6.6) and my computer restarts, i mean wtf? really annoyed me so im back to 6.6 which have no issues with any game i play

Thanx for your replies. I have tried most of the above, from formating to updating bios. I havnt yet tried any of the old driver versions though, will do now

My 3dmark05 score is 9300 (vsync off)

30mins prime stable

i play my games with vsync on with 4/6 aa, turning them off doesnt change a thing. I still get the loading texture delay, stutter :*(

You have anti-virus programs disabled while in games right? They can make stuff stutter in that way and easy to over-look.

How long do the stutters last? Have you checked for any IRQ conflicts? Particularly where your sound card is concerned.

this is my thought..... ive had trouble with soundcards before.

try taking the X-Fi out and just using onboard sound.

I bought an x-fi to try and sort it out! Its the same with using onboard sound.

The stutters are like 1/4 to 1/2 second long, which is very noticable :(

I have everything posible processor disabled when playing,

and yeah it was the same with my 7600gt

maybe its a cpu bottleneck?
