Basically RAM is so cheap atm that i might as well upgrade from 4gb to 8.

I have 4gb Corsair xms3 in my rig atm, i would really like to know what the best method would be:

1.just get another 4gb for £30 atm
2. sell my 4gb and get an 8gb kit (2x4) for £60

I'm just wondering about the merits of keeping 2 slots open. Will it matter or should i just fill them up?
Will it make any difference heat-wise?

Cheers guys

Actually, i have just seen that deal for the Kyngston HyperX Blu 8gb for £45:eek:

Surely that is my best bet?
Buy that and get what i can for my current ram?
Or could i even use both(not that i need 12gb atm)

Generally using 2 sticks of ram is better if your overclocking, as it puts less stress onto the memory controller, that dos'nt mean you can't use 4 sticks, just you may have to tweak the overclock (if u have a poor mem controller).

Id personally, get the kingston kit u mentioned and sell on the other.

Right, thanks for the advice. I will probably get that 8gb kit. Don't really want to put any extra stress on my OC as i have a 965be @4.2ghz.

I've got a few days to consider that deal anyway, as it is a weekly deal.

Would still be best to stress test the OC with the new kit though, perfect world it will slot in and be fine, but you never know, may need a tweak or 2.

But yeh £45 for 8Gb of memory is a good deal.
