howdy. after a recent LAN, my PC hasn't been right. It won't POST, and i'm fed up of removing the RAM, GFX and stuff trying to make it POST. I've given up. Time for a new CPU, RAM, Mobo and GFX. Anyhoo, my CPU is a p4 3ghz northwood. It is a mulitplier unlocked engineering sample, and i'm going to sell it to a friend of mine - but i dont wanna rip him off, or rip me off. What do you guys reckon it's worth?

£30?

30 quid or 50€ for a 478 cpu, damn prices are low in the uk, here people pay 100€ (70 quid ) no problem for s478 cpu's and I not too long ago sold a 3.4 prescott socket 478 for 200€ (133 quid i think).
Same as people pay tons now for socket A cpu's socket 478 cpu's are priced skyhigh, people want to pay more for old cpu's frr a simple cpu swap while they can have a new tech like core 2 duo for less...

Prices atm for USED 478 cpu's in the NL (this is not a ocuk compedator due to only pickup, being an auction site, and that ocuk do not have any 478 gear left):

So perhaps a suggestion to try to sell it abroad to make some more money?

hmm.. i may put it on the bay then.. or just give it to him.. not really worth much!

i tried to sell a p4 3.2 prescott on the bay and i couldnt even shift it for 50 quid about a year ago - still got it, but its goin in a really cheap rig for a mate now.

1. There is a price checks forum in the member's market - you're supposed to do all this stuff in there.
2. To the best of my knowledge you are not allowed to sell ES chips. They are effectively stolen as Intel send them out on the basis that they will be destroyed once they have been used for the purpose for which they were supplied.
3. Because of (2) I think you might have trouble selling the chip on ebay as I know Intel complained about the number of ES chips for sale when Core2Duo was launched.
