Whats needed for AoE3 to run smoothly?

Been playing AoE2 a bit recently after years of not playing it and loving it again. Only problem is the online community is a bit non-existant so thinking of getting AoE3.

My current spec is AMD64 3200+, 9800Pro and 1GB DDR now i'm fairly sure if a big battle ensues this won't run it smoothly?

If not, what kind of spec do I need to have no/minimum slowdown.

To be honest you will probably be surprised at how well it runs on that spec. Though an extra gig of ram would be the first thing i would do to improve performance.

It's not really worth buying an extra gig for this system as it would be the old type and I wouldn't be able to carry it over to upgrade.

Indeed - I'd say the gfx card would be more of a worry in any case. The vast majority of games which use more than 1gig RAM would likely be a bit slow on a 9800pro in any case.

To be honest for AoE3 I expect it will be absolutely fine! Give it a go - if you upgrade you'll end up spending quite a bit of money and I doubt there will be any need.
