What's new with 7 SP1?

I don't think there's anything new in SP1 for Windows 7 users, but there are a couple things added for Server 2008 I think.

There are updates that wouldn't have been available via Windows Update. So it is worth installing no matter what. Besides, Microsoft will eventually end support for vanilla Windows 7, so you will have to install SP1 at some point.

They're not going to make it mandatory tomorrow! I simply pointed out that at some point you will need to do it. The majority of people have had no problems...! :p

I've got this lingering in the corner of my desktop now that I've just installed SP1 :/
Test Mode
Windows 7
build 7601

Any idea how to get rid?

Test mode? you have'nt got that program running to force driver signature enforcement to always be off have you?

I used to run something like that so that i could change mouse hz from 125hz to 500hz and it would permanently give me a "test mode" thing in the corner.

EDIT: It says that my windows is activated in the control panel > system

^ That's the guide i used, the dimr.exe program was the one that enabled test mode. Though i do remember another program that does it as well, whether they do the exact same thing im unsure.

Installed it on about 15 machines, no issues.

Use windows disk cleanup after to remove the 900mb backup files.

Probably a good idea remove and create new system restore points too if you use it

Had you possibly installed one of the 'beta' builds of SP1 in the past, and not remembered to uninstal it before installing the final 'production' version?... which is what Microsoft say you should do.

I am not trying to be clever at all here, but it is one possibility.
