Whats normal temp for GPU?

Create a fan profile where the fan runs at 40% at 40degs, 50% at 50degs etc in a linear line up to say 75degrees where you could run fan at say 85%, with it gradually incresing as the temps approach 80 and have it set to 100% at 85degs.

It will defo be louder than it currently is, but it should keep the gpu quite a bit cooler than the stock fan setting.

I done all that and my card hit 96C

That makes no sense whatsoever - how could the card have gotten hotter with a more aggresive fan profile?

That would only ever happen if it was blowing hotter ambient air in to the gou than the gpu currently was - which isn't possible.

You must not be setting the fan profile correctly, I'm afraid.

Hold up and i will try find a pic of what an aggresive profile would look like in afterburner.

You are more than welcome to teamviewer and set up a fan profile for me but last time i did that my games were running the card upto 96C

Something like that, although you could have the fan spin up to 90-100% if temps get above 80deg.

Mine was almost identical to that, someone on toms hardware helped me with the fan profile and it made the card sooooooo hot (96C...i say again lol) then it was members on this forum told me to not have it on my own profile EVER,so i took it off

a previous comment said stick the fan on 100% and see what temps you get

I thought the first thing you'd do is take the overclock off tho

The exact card i got is from here but this forum wont let me post link,it ************* it all out

Where the stars are it is www scan dot co dot uk

My card says

Core Clock: 925 MHz Boost Clock: 975 MHz so i dont think it is overclocked and GPUZ says my default is the same

The speeds I posted were from the link in the original post, the speeds you posted were higher, hence why I think you've overclocked it in afterburner.

I posted amazon link because scan link didnt work,my apologies but the fact still remains all my games run at 86C and higher and im about to burn this mah****a out of rage as everyone keeps telling me online and on phone and to my face that its too hot but not 1 person has a fix, forgive my anger but this has cost me a lot and i mean a lot of money and i just want **** to work for once

We've just been following the information... we've ruled out a case airflow problem because the rest of your components are okay and your case looks clean and tidy... I think we've settled on the card not being overclocked now... so I think we have 2 options:

A. There's doubt over whether your fan profile is working properly.
B. The card is dodgy.

If the card IS dodgy im gonna go off, they sent me a busted 1 already, this 1 im using is the replacement. Would you be willing to do a fan profile for me? Teamviewer? The last 1 i had ****ed me royally

Ok,i played Metro 2033 which was running at 86C but with fan on 100% its 75-76C

Alan Wake is a solid 86C but on 100% fan its 76C

I can test the others if you need me to

It was sealed and in an anti static bag yeah...i got it on the 12th,i dont think they will replace it now, this is the 2nd 1 they sent me.

I cant just ring them and say its running too hot, this 1 is faulty 2 2 weeks after they sent me it when there are people saying to me its not that hot for this time of year, mind is ****ed up right now lol

I think it is quite a hot running card, reading this.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/VTX3D/Radeon_HD_7870_XT_Black/32.html

It is getting nearly 1.3V during 3D load, which is more than even my heavily overclocked 7970 watercooled is receiving.

I think you will just have to manage your expectations, try various fan profiles and accept that the card is on the warmer side which might restrict your ability to overclock. I don't think the card is faulty in any way. The temps you are getting are honestly nothing to worry about. If it was getting in to the mid 90's then yes that would be something to be concerned about, but 80 degrees up to mid 80's for a card with a lot of volts going on to it, with a reference style cooler seems perfectly reasonable to me.

You can drop the temps, but you are going to have to subject yourself to a noisier card unfortunately.

Ok,i will put up with it because i really dont want to have to go through returns again, they charge me £10 if the item is not faulty as well
