Now that we have a forum there's no need to have one giant thread any more so I thought it would be a good idea for a thread where everyone can post what they're working on. It could be anything from a conversion to a painting WIP. If it's not ready for The Display Cabinet then stick it here :) Besides I never finish anything so I need a thread :p

Please abide by the forum maximum image size of 1280 pixels wide or below.

So....remember that Heroes of The Imperium thing that I started months and months and months ago? Well I've actually made some progress! All in various stages of progress:

White Scar

Not far off finished, final touches and base need doing. Jetpack in particular needs tidying up.

Sons of Orar

Really happy with this one. Still needs a few final touches (text on scrolls etc) but I'm very happy with the red.

Storm Warden

Early WIP. Blue and metal armour is almost done (needs cleaning up though) but everything else is early.

Nice work. That red armour looks amazing, especially the legs! If your blue armour comes out like that it'll be awesome aswell.

Just started to paint a new boxset from Judge Dredd miniatures -The Angel Gang!

Only had enough undercoat spray for three mini's though :( so I just gave those three a quick wash to show up the details to make them easier to paint.

edit: That reminds me, after looking at the pic I need to mod Mean's claw hand a bit, they are way too straight for my liking :)

Lets get this going then! Have a group of my Liberators as WIP, I'm a pretty n00b painted so no hating! This is maybe the 15th thing I have painted:

Didn't really like the full gold scheme, so going for a dirty silver with dirty gold. The Primes and Heroes will be full gold.

Will give it a go when I get home.

How do I get the shield to look less painted as well, any ideas? For it I started with kantor blue, added some lighter blue (Calgar) and mixed and applied it further down. Then more light blue further down, all the way to a 1:1 Calgar/white skull mix.

The shield's looking pretty good - I'd say bring the lightning bolts up to the same colour as the hammerhead (yellow/gold), tehn mix a darker blue and do a thin line under the top ornamentation and under the lower edges of the hammer/lightning bolts, to make it look a bit shadowed.

I probably wouldn't have gone for lightest at the bottom, but then I always have trouble picking out the brightest points on large flat surfaces like that.

Forgot to do the lightning bolts!

I didn't even think about the lighting when going for the lightest at the bottom tbh, just whatever was easiest! I think I will try going for light in the middle going darker as they get to the edges.

Currently painting Vulkan...

Very early stages. I'm playing in a 30K tournament in Cardiff next weekend so I really need to get cracking!

What an amazing model though. The pose, the detail... everything is just incredible.

VERY VERY WIP ... the only part that's finished, but still needs a touch up is the front lion head armour piece and the front two shin pads... Am happy with the gold I have got, not yelllow really and a bit filthy or used.

Just got back into painting after a year or so doing other things.

It's not a professional job by any means but I'm happy to have nearly finished this Cromwell IV. It'll be on to the Tiger II that's in the background then  Maybe I'll then finally finish those dark angels that you can see waaaaaaay off at the back of the picture:rolleyes:

Wow, the gold armour looks really good.

Thanks!

This is my quicker painting style which I use for armies.

Retributor Armour base (paint not spray)
Sepia shade
Gold layer
re-apply shade in more extreme recesses, also add a bit of Earthshade
Throw in some watered down yellow/red/purple glaze if you fancy.
Liberator gold highlight
Silver for extreme highlight.

That's it really, the new citadel gold paints are very very good, I just can't figure out why they've decided to charge a quid extra for them, when they're not really different from any of their normal metallics.

Okay, so I'm very new to painting and only painted some of the figures for FFGs Star Wars: Imperial Assault. I painted these two after work on Monday.

I messed up royally trying to do eyes and lips as it was the first time I've attempted to do any. I'll try and touch them up tonight before giving them some good old varnish.

Edit:
Updated the image after cleaning up the smeared lips and terrible attempt at eyes.
