Whats replacing the Space Shuttle?

At the moment I believe the answer is nothing.
I don't think they've got anything that will be ready to replace the shuttle as a like for like craft, so will be falling back to modules similar to the Russians (isn't the advance of technology wonderful when politicans are in charge?).

I believe they were meant to have replaced them about a decade ago, but funding was cut so that project was stopped, and they have only recently started seriously looking at a feasible replacement that can do the same sort of range of jobs..

I think your thinking of the X-33.

That was canned due to them not being able to handle the hydrogen fuel cells properly. Cost them $912 million.

Also if Obama gets in part of the Constellations will be delayed for 5 years to pay for Americans education, which will delay the return to the moon for the Americans.

Unless say the Chinese launch next Tuesday, then the Americans will be on Mars on Friday.

Ps. Why does Word spelling want to replace Obama with Osama? Hidden messages in Word.

Virgin Galactica might be closer to the mark then :D

I think this is true. I'm not that into space exploration and all that but I'm fairly up-to-date, I think. As far as I know NASA haven't really got a replacement for the space shuttle.

The Space ShuttleGX2

Its 2 Shuttles, strapped together with a Shuttle Layering Interface (SLI) comand module that will allow 50-100% faster travel to the moon, and provide a much clearer view of space for the passengers....
