Whats required to ride a 125 ?

Will be getting my full driving licence back in February hopefully and i have a road legal 125 in the garage. I was under the impression you can ride around on L plates if you have a full car licence, is this the case or do i need to do some kind of test ?

Would'nt mind the bike as a run about in the summer

You need to pass your CBT and have a provisional motorcycle entitlement on your licence to ride on Ls.
