As title says really, in some posts i see people saying no wireless please, but why?

Personally I can't stand wires, there's always somethign falling cos of the wire and its also always stuck at the wrong moments, now that I'm wireless, i wouldn't dream of gettign a wired one.

Some argument may be power, i find that rubbish though tbh, just put mouse into charger at end of day and u have power for always, never in the last 3 or 4 years my mouse ran dry out of power, I just put my mouse into charger when i turn off pc or goto bed, isn't that hard to just pick up a mouse and put it in a hole where it's charged.

So what's the reason people avoid wireless?

btw dont take this too seriously, its 4 am (for me), I can't sleep, and I'm bored, want to start a conversation :D .

im with you on this ive not had a wired mouse for years.. my first wireless mouse was a memorex one and i loved it to bits the only reason i changed was my wife got me a microsoft desktop elete wireless keyboard and mouse.. although the mouse hasnt got a docking station i do have a battery charger beside my pc with 2 aa batteries in ready for changeover at any time so im never without power.

a lot of people say that its how much quicker they respond for fragging ect but i play cod 2 and sof2 not a css player and i own on with my wireless mouse.

The only one I've used is some logitech mouse, I noticed a slight delay between input and movement. I could probably get used to it for desktop stuff eventually but never for games.

I presume that was just an early model, might take a look at some newer mice soon.

I have no problems playing FPS games on it: MOHAAS, BF2, UT2k4, all feel fast enough in both sp and mp play, and i do many hours of mohaa spearhead or bf2 multiplayer a week.

Btw on the cheapest wireless optical I could find.
Input speed feels instant, and tbh when i had to use a wired one for a week ( cos i broke my own, i Repaired it myself though again ) I didnt feel any difference in responce, only diff was *** bloody cable was annoying me.

I know btw I'm prone to responce time changes (any, be it ping or mouse), I can already notice the diff between a ping of sub 30 and a ping of 60-80 on spearhead.

Hmmm, is there absolutely no lag whatsoever on the desktop? I don't see why my mate's expensive logitech should lag that much is cheaper ones don't :\

If your one is less than a year/two old then it could just be the fact that it was one of the first versions.

:Edit: hmm just read your edit... I'm gonna start looking at wireless mice now :p

Only wireless mouse I used lagged, it was a Logi, I wasnt impressed.

Personally never had any problems with wired, I dont have to charge it or worry about it going flat, never had the wires get stuck, never needed to move it off my desk so for me being wireless would make no difference.

I have a wired keyboard too, again no problems and no need to not have a wire.

I always used to use wireless, better range, better with a laptop, but more recently I was in need of a more comfortable one, didn't have much money to spend so went for a wired one. I must say the wired one is better tne any wireless one I've ownd in termsof it's lighter, glides better and I never have to worry about skipping a click which occasionally happened with my wireless mice. I just use both now cos they both have pros and cons. KB is wireless and will always stay like that.

I've got a ms wireless optical 2.0

The mouse has a poor range and often seems to either lose sync or go into a sleep mode. The result of which is a quarter second delay before the mouse starts responding. It would even do this while gaming.

Also I didn't like the balance of the mouse, dictated by the 2 AA batteries.

The keyboard on the other hand works fairly well.

My first 'gaming' mouse must have been the Logitech MX1000, which was the wireless laser mouse. It was nice to use, and didn't have any problems with it but i just preferred a wired mouse so i didnt have to worry about charging it.

Plus, with a wired mouse it doesn't go as far when i have CSS-rage

My wired mouse offers all I need. The last time I tried a wireless mouse, it was laggy (by about 0.25s) and the mouse cursor just didn't move across the screen as smoothly as my wired mouse (lack of resoloution?).

As for wires in my way - can't say it bothers me, TBH. They rarely get in my way - rare, as in once every 3-6 months.

The only wireless mouse i had was from microsoft and it was shocking. Admittedly it was a few years ago so they may be better now.

It was perfectly fine during desktop use but as soon as i tried to play cs:s it was jerking around all over the place. I took it back and got a logitech wired mouse and never looked back.

I use a Logitech G7 most of the time now and I can't notice any lag between it and the Intellimouse v3.0 that I have sitting next to it. The G7 has adjustable sensitivity on the fly which is handy, particularly as you get more used to the speed of it. You can also set profiles for each of your games if you should be so inclined. All in all, one of the best £50 I've probably spent on my PC because it is one of the three contact points you have with your PC (keyboard, mouse and monitor) and I'd prefer each of them to be good rather than having the fastest PC but poor components for interaction. :)

Wireless mouse : broke
Wireless keyboard : broke

Never had one since then I found them unreliable but maybe its just bad experience.

Well i was happy with my MX1000 until i forgot to charge it one day & put my old MX510 back on. Compared to my 510 the 1000 felt like a brick and i wondered why i ever switched in the first place. It glides much better and feels more suited to my hand. I wouldn't say the 1000 lagged but the drag causes effects that feel like lag. I have a hook screwed into the underside of my desk to trace the wires through which avoids any wire catching. I feel much more confident with my 510 so have sold my 1000.

I installed a wireless MS desktop kit for a buddy the other day, and it's been a while since i used a wireless mouse, i was very impressed, however i did find unless i pointed the mouse at the dongle the clicks didnt always register.

For me the following is why i choose to not use wireless though.

1) They don't all have chargers
2) The inconvenience of changing and charging batteries
3) Chance of skipping a click here and there
4) I don't have a problem with wires
5) The extra price tag
6) The decent ones are mainly Logitech, and they just don't feel comfortable to me

Everyone has a preference, i just prefer a wired MS mouse. As said though i was impressed with how responsive my mates wireless one was, it was only a cheapo MS one, Desktop 1000 iirc.

had a wireless logitech mouse and it was pretty awful when used on my pc, so I went back to using a wired mouse

As you say it is personal preference but some of your reasoning is a little odd I must say. :)
1) True but then the decent ones do come with chargers, the G7 gives you two batteries so you can swap them.
2) It takes less than 10 seconds on the G7 and by the time you have used up one the other is normally fully charged.
3) RF transmission means it isn't any more likely than with a wired mouse or at least not so I have noticed, no line of sight needed, in fact I've been in the next room before and tried it just to prove a point.
4) Nor do I generally but it is nice to to have anything at all to catch.
5) Can't argue with.

I mustve been very lucky with my mouse then  , i bought the cheapest optical wireless with docking station i could find, for 7 quid to be precise, it wa used tho, abotu 2 years ago and:

1) They don't all have chargers- mine has dockign station
2) The inconvenience of changing and charging batteries - see 1
3) Chance of skipping a click here and there- never happens to me
4) I don't have a problem with wires- i do tbh now
5) The extra price tag- cheap mouse 7 quid, how much cheaper do u want
6) The decent ones are mainly Logitech, and they just don't feel comfortable to me- never used logi tbh
