Whats TDP

TDP = Thermal Design Power.

It's the maximum amount of power a given component will use.

Suggestion - try Google next time. There's not a lot of peeps around on here at 2am!

Well knock me over with a daisy.

That'll be fine. There's no CPUs over 130W around anyway. The power chomping prize was won by the Pentium D at 135W.

Hint : show a bit of willing - Tell us you've tried Google and don't understand the answer

:-)

No problem my knowledge is expanding everday mainly cause of this forum i'd be at a total loss without it.
planning to build a scratch system early next year feb/march time i can do most of the other stuff just proccy's and cooler scare me lol.

the thing thats worrying me most The first boot up
will it work on auto or am i going to have to go manual i'm hoping new mobo's and proccy's will just boot straight up like my bro's socket 939 did everthing on auto and off he went

I'm not sure if that's a complement or an insult! :p

compliment matey i find the answers on here are usaully short and to the point google goe's through page after page sometimes and it's just like i don't want all that info just the basic

THANKS TO EVERYONE THATS BEEN HELPING ME THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS I DO ACTUALLY APPRECIATE IT.

Should be fine. Motherboard asks the CPU what it is and sets the speed/voltages automatically.

I miss the good old days, where you had to set multiple banks of jumpers for voltage, multiplier, FSB and the co-processor.

Lol . . . I don't! :D

Stuck in your bedroom with a bunch of hardware your have no real clue about with a two page leaflet written in dodgy english to guild you and the internet hasn't been launched so your only hope of finding any clues is the weekly computer fair where you pretend your interested in buying something from the traders so that you can fire off a bunch of questions about hardware problems you been having! :o

The Internet along with these forums and hardware that is almost self-building and self clocking has made things soooooo much easier . . .I wonder why people still get really worried about their computer builds?

Hey bigjimmyauk,

you need to take a big sedative and relax, the whole computer building and overclocking scene is meant to be fun and challenging, too much fear and worry is not a good thing! :)

I'm not sure what you been reading or who you have been talking too but things are not a fearsome as you think they are, just take things slowly and try to enjoy the experience!

Yeah i did enjoy putting the old system into the HAF case not really challenging but fun to do.
I'm just picking up a few things bit by bit like GPU,HDD,Combi drive,PSU then come march i'll only have to pay for cpu, cooler, mobo and ram just looking at package deals some seem quite steep in price
