Whats the best cpu for a shuttle (overclocking)

Get the SN25P and a Opty.. they're the best mix for overclocking.

However, its not gonna overclock as well as a pc with the same components, although it will be fast :D

hi,

I purchased an oem 3700+ 90nm amd64(kab3e steppings too :D )

I have it running at 2.75 gig(11x250fsb) and my memory runs at 166mhz(which when you take the fsb increase into account boosts that speed to just over stock 200mhz) and my system is idling at around 27-31c and underload never goes above 40c. i'd say thats pretty good for a sff pc. just use artic silver thermal paste and make sure your shuttle has a nice spot where its airways aren't blocked in any way, and you should be fine.

Oh and i used 1.5v for the cpu, but in cpu-z it displays 1.44v every time so the shuttle undervolts. but this has had no effect and none of my games crash etc.

at the moment my bfg 7600gt is bottlenecking my performance but when i upgrade to either a iceq3 1900 xtx or a 7900 gtx i'm hoping my fps will be blistering(currently get 153fps on css stress test with everything maxed at 1280x1024).

hope this helps! :)

I am using a sn25p and this can only do 300fsb from bios, so you get a decent speed your going to need a 10x multi or above.

I chose a opteron 146 (as apposed to a 144) because of this, i am currently running 2900mhz @ 1.47v

the 3700+ would be a great choice too because that has an 11x multi.
