what's the best free anti virus software nowadays ?

I've had Norton for last few years as it was only 30 quid but there wanting 60 this time and cant find it cheaper anywhere so just going to download a free one.

I play quite a lot of competitive multilayer games, Norton was a pain in the ass for some of the games not letting me play without adding exceptions in the settings. So looking for a hassle free one when it comes to games , or a cheap alternative

What's mse? I have win 7 .. is it built in or is it a separate download all together and is that free ?

And it's not due to anti virus being a resource hog and slowing down games , but Norton would affect mainly multiplayer games , as in it wouldn't let me even open some games would just come up with error messages , then I would have to mess around for ages sorting it out in Norton

And also if I decide to use this ? Do I need to use avast along side it or get away with just on its own ?

I'm thinking of going for mse and this malware bytes then , not sure yet though!

how often would I have to scan with the malware software roughly ? I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to anti virus as I've been using Norton for 4 years and it's all automatic
