Anyone got the nvidia 3d vision yet. If so what is the best game you have played in 3d? might invest in the 3d if any decent games support it.

Was browsing the Dragon Age forums earlier and some were saying that game is incredible in 3D.

Can't say I've ever looked into 3D Gaming, but after seeing Avatar a few days ago I'm starting to take an interest.

Does this 3D malarkey still have the problems it did 10 years ago with games? I remember playing Counter Strike yonks back with some 3D LCD glasses I got with an old Elsa gfx card, and when you looked at the crosshair everything else was out of focus, and vice versa when you focused on the enemy/environment. It put you at a great disadvantage. Have to admit the technology is awesome for films though.

I think the nvidia drivers have their own crosshair now in that it draws it on the surface in centre of screen and you turn the ingame one off. I also used to have 3d glasses that came with my Elsa Gladiac Geforce2 Ultra :D They eventually broke and I got some edimensional ones. I still have them now but are unusable due to the CRT requirement and no driver support for 8800Gt+ cards.

From memory, Quake3, Counter Strike Source and WoW looked great in 3D

i've tried a fair few in 3D this is how i'd rate the top ones

1. avatar - stunning, amazing whatever you wanna call it really, 3D transforms the game into the best looking game i've ever played

Link to 3D screenshots

2. batman arkham asylum - again really good 3D effect the whole opening section walking the joker through the asylum is just transformed into something else in 3D, works fine with max setting (no aa) and physx enabled too

3. resident evil 5 - damn this games eerie in 3D, the crows are a little too spooky, plenty of nice 3D effects in this one, tentacles popping out the screen etc

4. fuel - hardly the worlds greatest game but again 3D transforms it graphically, very nice 3D effect indeed, tried the demo then bought it for £5 i like the 3D that much

5. left for dead 1/2 - played through 4 campaigns in l4d2 in 3D had no issues with eye strain or whatever even after 3 or so hours. nice 3d effect on the smoke on your gun and the blood splattering the screen

6. streetfighter 4 - wasn't too impressed with this initially then i fired it up again and really like it now, there isn't as much depth as other games but it still looks really nice in 3D

Link to 3D screenshots

not sure if its possible to view those screens in 3D without the glasses mind

that's hardly an exhaustive list but its a start, most game types lend themselves well to 3D, need to reinstall tomb raider underworld as i saw the screenshots nvidia provide and that looks to be a good one. really though any 3rd person/1st person or racing game is gonna look excellent in 3D, some games have a few issues like you may have to turn off the odd effect but nothing too major really, the ones listed above are pretty much flawless in 3D

I would imagine Mirrors edge would be good with the whole motion and jumping forward thing. Give you a real sense of depth when jumping.

Remember playing Batman Arkham Asylum in 3D at the Overclockers 3D event a few weeks ago. That was impressive. A lot of money though to get all the hardware. :/

just reinstalled tomb raider underworld and that's definitely one of the top 3D games, just watching lara tread water underwater is great, will absolutely be replaying this in 3D

yeah never really though of that one, i have it from that £3.75 EA downloader offer, will download it now i think

Trackmania has built in 3D option

yeah that's for polarization glasses though, the red and blue ones. not tried that yet, needs a reinstall as it gives me grief about a new patch then i can't install the patch because i forgot to backup the reg entry, will get around to it sometime

you can get a kind of 3D effect without the glasses, try this

read the more info bit and use the drop down menu to change the 3D type, gives you a little insight into how good 3D is, if you can get it working anyway

so whats the best card for this 3d malarky then? Ive got a pretty decent pc but havnt upgraded the gfx for years, still got an 8800gtx which handles pretty much everything but this 3d things sounds a laugh.

Thanks for the info. What hardware setup do you have? Was thinking about buying a 3DVision-certified projector like the H5360 - A mate at work uses 3D vision discover on a normal 2D projector and Left 4 Dead is supposed to be immense.

As for the screenshots, I think you should be able to rename them jpg and do the crosseyed trick. I actually played a little of the Avatar console game in "crosseyed 3D" on a normal TV and while it looked stunning maintaining the forced focus results in dizzyness and headaches.

I agree to the people who say its expensive to setup! which is why i made this topic :) i want to hear about what other people have to say about the games. Unfortunatly i only have 2 of the games mentioned, L4D2/1

I have a decent 120mhz monitor, But i have to decide on keep my 9800GT for the nvidia 3d vision and have my 5770 to play the games (if it works with the 3d)

I think i would have to try the 3D if i think about buying it. And more first hand reviews :)

Is games like rfactor any good in 3d? I could imaging wheels coming towards you in 3d would be pretty neat. Or even grid 2 ;)
