Whats the best gaming 19" LCD for under £260

Samsung SM-940BF 19" LCD Monitor

Price: £218.95 (£257.27 Including VAT at 17.5%)

I have the 'cut down' version of this (SM913n) which is superb and I've heard very good reviews for this monitor :) . Wait till Baddass posts, he's an expert when it comes to monitors and is the one who recommended me my monitor

I went for the 960BF for around the £260 mark. Absolutely fantastic monitor. Same as the 940BF but in pure white with 4ms response time. :)

Edit: Seems abit more expensive now. :o

Hi b4z. The suggestions above are certainly some of the more popular gaming screens in the 19" market. One which hasn't been mentioned yet which I would recommend for a gamer is the Viewsonic VX922. This is arguably the fastest panel in the TFT market right now, and is used as a reference monitor at Tom's Hardware and BeHardware as well. The responsiveness of the panel is very good. One thing to note as a comparison with the Samsung models of similar spec (the 930BF, 960BF and 940BF) is that the overdrive application is much more well controlled on the Viewsonic model. Poorly controlled overdrive can lead to a lot of 'overshoot' and lead to artefacts include annoying white halo-ing and what is referred to as overdrive trailing. The Samsung models haven't quite got this control right sadly, and while they are still certainly very good, and very well priced, they don't quite match the Viewsonic in this regard.

Samsung's hallmark "gamers screen" the 940BF (2ms G2G) has some quite noticable problems with overdrive trailing, and it has been reported recently on these forums. The users have both found that turning off the RTA (Response Time Acceleration) setting in the OSD cures this, but then you're pretty much reverting the screen back to it's 8ms form as it was in the models like the Samsung 913N / 920N before they started using overdrive technology. Not much point in buying an RTC enabled monitor if you just turn it off ;) Anyway, it's not a major problem, but something to note.

The overdrive is more evenly controlled on the VX922 (as you can see from reviews and the response time graphs). Check out this comparison too which should help you :)
